Turkey sightings
I spotted a field in Mercer Co. that had at least a hundred birds in it. Got to 75 and couldn,t keep track of all of them.
Largest flock I ever seen!

Saw 2 different flocks last week that had at least 50 birds each....Some realy big boss hens...

Saw 45 hens and young of the year,small jakes,and saw 8 long beards in another field after going to the range to sight in my 222 ,bring on the cotes

Last week of archery season had 84 birds walk past the stand at 30 yards.
Second week of rifle season saw 21 longbeards(yes, mature birds) in a flock.

There was a flock of about 26 visiting my yard between xmas and the new year, but I dont know where they went.

All the birds from my area must have gone north, south, east or west. Have not seen a bird since the second week of archery season. Out the other day and crossed a lot of ground and never saw a track in the snow. A few nice corn fields still standing but not a bird to be found.

i hunt in marienville..great turkey hunting woods down there..a lotttt better than deer..if anybody stiil hunts deer down there u gotta be crazy..i seem to have very good luck ever year gobbler hunting down there...had 4 birds struttin 60 yds out..they wouldnt budge

Saw 50+ birds in a field that is on property that is adjacent to mine yesterday.
I always have a hard time getting one of those guys for some reason. My guess is too many hens.

I went down over the hill beside my house to retrieve my ladder stand this morning. There must have been a flock right down there because as I got close, turkies were busting out everywhere. It was chaos. They were busting out of the brush like pheasants (used to). I coulda jump shot em, like grouse.

Yeah, I never see birds during the season the way I do in late winter. There is a flock of 25-30 that seem to live right around my house this time of year. Every now and then they'll come up and pick scraps from around the birdfeeder. I'll see em right up until trout season or so. Then they disappear. Happens every year.

In winter you will always see large groups together hens with young in 1 flock all gobblers in another as the spring starts they disperse into breeding groups,where you see them now is not where they will be come spring but they won't be far maybe within a mile radius.

i dont agree with the mile radius thing..ive seen birds in one area in the winter..and never heard or saw a bird in that area in the spring..they are wierd animals sometim,es..it just depends where the food is

The area I hunt is 2B they have been roosting on the same hillside for 20 plus years pretty much in the same spot and my son and I always kill them after they break up on a different hillside not a half mile away year after year. It helps when it's a south facing hillside there are always acorns on that hillside year after year with big big mature trees and wide open woods,steep as hell we call it HEARTATTACK HILL,don't deer hunt there cause you'll never drag one out by yourself,on the bottom there is a deep creek the only way out is up just my experence
