Yough River

I just went up to the lake this past week to do some tubing and wakeboarding.. and i was wonderign if the lake it self has anygood fishing walleye particularly... I know below the dam has good trout, but i haven't really heard much about the lake. any general info on fish species, lures, depths, locations, etc would be much appreciated

I have heard that there are monstrous Walleyes in that lake. I have tried to fish it from shore and haven't caught anything but tiny smallmouths. I have heard that if you want walleyes you need to fish up by the Dam as close to the bouyies as possible with jigs or back troll fat deep running crank-baits. The lake is polluted with pleasure boating drunks (that I am insanely jealous of ), so it does make it tough to fish at times with all the 2 foot wakes all over. I can tell you anything you want to know about catching trout below at the tailrace I have never been skunked there and I have caught a couple walleye there and some small perch.

Honesty, got to love it!  I'm right there with you.  If I had the money, I'd be one of those pleasure boating drunks too.  Ofcourse that is after I got a good morning's fish in.  That's probably the better time to target the walleye anyway, that and late evening when the boating dies down.
