Mysis Shrimp

This has worked well in Michigan , and as of today, it killed them in the Erie tribs
A little labor intensive but worked well!

I saw this pattern a few years ago and tied up a few.  I was very surprised when I was fishing stained water on
Elk Creek and hooked up with a large female steelhead.  It was on a size 16!

I like the shrimp flies.  They work most of the time.

OP, yours looks very nice.  Good Job!

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

I know mysis shrimp aren't present in Erie tributaries, but do you think that the steelhead think it resembles the spiny water flea that is rampid in lake Erie?  Anyone have a pattern for one of those?

You know , I don't have a pattern for the flea but I think if this were "tied down" 14/16 I know it will work, I fished this pattern in 14's and rocked them @ Elk, but on any given day that could change. I've fished  green caddis one day(rocked them) and next day was a no go kind of thing. Most likely presentation and the right conditions contribute to all of our success

Good ol' Herb was the first (or one of) to create such a pattern for GL steel.

My reports and advice are for everyone to enjoy, not just the paying customers.

Steelhead are dumb, or there are a lot of them, so there's bound to be a dumb one.   That said, I've caught them in Michigan/Indiana river systems where no shrimp exist.   They're just dumb duuds.
