Tied my first flies!
While i'm sure they are not the hardest flies to tie, it took me a while to get the hang of making them. I tied some sucker spawn and crystal Meth (crystal spawn) that look just as good as the ones I normally would buy. Well almost just as good. I can't wait to try them in erie and hopefully catch a fish on them. I'm sure catching one on something that I tied will be more rewarding! I started out tying them on size 10 hooks until I got the hang of them. I tied a few on size 16 that turned out pretty good.

The first fish you land on the first fly that you ted yourself is by far the best feeling in the world. Keep at it and you will just get better and better.
The Lord has blessed us all today... It's just that he has been particularly good to me.

Catching one on a fly you tied yourself is so much more rewarding. I rarely buy any flies now since I started.

You know what I like most about tying my own flies. Inventing something custom, something to just give you a little difference that can make your day from the guy upstream. Not only that, you get home on a friday and wanna go saturday. You dont have what you think you need... sit down and tie... costs about 1/2 of what it does to buy, sometimes not even that much.

Just remember... They don't have to be perfect! The fish won't mind, believe me!

True, but regardless you will find yourself getn better and you will give the ones you have away or pitch them in the garbage. Something about a box full of perfect flies just has to be when you tie. I bet I gave away or threw away at least 1000 flies in my first year.

I love that fly holder. That will most definitely make tying more fun and well worth it.

Practice tying one loop and getting it all on top. Pinch the material on top, and let the thread slide across your finger tips.
