Pymatuning

Drew an unclamied blind 11/17. Ducks were everywhere early Geese were also there in large numbers Was the best I've seen it in 5 years .Done by 9 If we could shoot straight would have been done at 8 . Flight birds must have been moving ahead of the storm. Saw thousands of Tundra swans in the air.

Glad to hear. What blind did you draw? We were there on 11/12 and there was little action at all.

    Congrats!
I drew a blind on Jan 2, love the action up there.

Except, do you guys think that maybe they should move the blinds around because its obvious the geese have learned where the blinds are.

If you were shot at every monday, wednesday, friday and saturday--you'd know the locations as well. I'm convinced that these geese fly basically the same paths every year. Moving blinds would seem strange unless they positioned more around these paths. This explains why some blinds are consistently good---others lousy.

I drew a blind for dec 29 th,they have 40 or so blinds and only a handful are good, the ones close to the lake, all the low numbers and a few around the ponds, the last time I went I had blind 39,and the show was over at 8:15,wanted to film all the birds but goose cops told us to we could not do that and we had to leave.

If you guys really want to pound geese, buy and Ohio non Res.Lic.My son and I have been doing it for 8 years, all field hunting in layout blinds over full body decoys. They will 95 % of time let you hunt geese, the farmers hate them, but love their monster deer. The wardens in Ohio even will tell of farms that are having trouble with geese, very nice state to hunt.

    Tuna,

I have heard that numerous times about Ohio.  Geese every where and everyone wants them killed.  I have been kicking around the idea for a few years now.  I think I may have to do this.  Maybe me and my old man can tag along with you sometime.  We have all the goodies for goose hunting.

They draw for the unclaimed blinds at Pymy a half hour before shooting time.  But you need to be there earlier than that cause you need to fill out a card.  This all takes place at the management building.

As far as the good blinds they are any of the ones in the center of the management area.  The closer to the lake the better.

I will be hunting the Yough river for the next few months.  Can't wait for the big green heads.
