Ask around. There are a lot guys who have a few older compounds in the basement like myself that are just sitting there and nothing wrong with them. I gave one away last year to a neighborhood kid and helped him shoot it in. Probably get a 10-15 year old one for $40. Good luck.

ill go against everyone and just say it... if you really really think you will like it, buy a mathews or a bowtech and never look back. ive spent enough on other bows i coulda had my dream bow by now.

Im a Hoyt man, but ill be honest since none of my co workers are here(who i raz about mathews and parker), they are all pretty darn good anymore.  I went with hoyt because it was quieter, but it was heavier. im a big dude, so the wieght is a nonissue for me.  its all about fit, and comfort.

There are a ton of good bows out there KISH.  Be sure to shoot some.  Some of these new bows coming out are very light, and that can be a bad thing as it's harder to keep steady.  A heavier bow is less forgiving.  Mine is 4.25 pounds naked, and I like it.   Even the ones at 3.75 pounds are too light for me.

My reports and advice are for everyone to enjoy, not just the paying customers.

If you are really gonna get into archery, then  I would suggest to get the best bow you can afford and put high a quality rest, sight, quiver, peep, etc. on it. Personally I started with a Mathews FX, which was a great bow, but I went cheap on the rest and sight, but when I got my Drenalin, I paried it up with some good accessories, and I wont trade it for the world.

But as people have said on here there is not a bad company out there, however you might want to stick to Mathews, Hoyt or Bowtech cause they are the most carried bows in the proshops.
