excellent reel. i own it and have not one complaint for it,

I have the 10 11 weight and its very very heavy.  I had a problem with the drag that i'm not sure is completely worked out since i haven't used it much in the year i've had it.

I did buy a Scierra fly rod from a shop in N. Ireland........It snapped while false casting in the yard.....I did contact Scierra america office and they did replace the rod with a newer model.......so they mailed me a
9 foot 7 wt CTC...very sweet looking rod..........have not made one cast with it yet......the rod I broke was an
    11 foot 7 wt...........

the lady at customer service was very polite and shipped the new rod quickly.....although it take her a about 12 days to respond........it was show season and she said they were crazy busy at the moment.......understandable

I have never used a Scierra fly reel.......they looked heavy with little backing capacity....although the palm rim drag system is very interesting

The latest edition of Gander Mtn's house reels are Scierra made. They are heavier but the drag is of the highest quality and 2/3 the price. When you disconnect the drag, they spin almost like a centerpin. Well manufactured.
