Go for a walk chicken.  It's a perfect day to do some scouting, looking over sharp points, walk edges slowly, still hunting thru thickets.  You just may walk up on a high tine sticking up or an ear flickering.  Keep the wind in your favor.   That's what I'm going to do today.  I'm just sayin'.

agree'd silver...never too windy to hunt.just change it up. no one wants to sit 40 ft up in a poplar on a windy day, but i have made several shots off the ground(at close range) on windy days...like silver said, put the wind in your favor and walk a thicket...i like to walk about 30-50 yards, and call...kneel 10 minutes, walk another 30-50, call again and so on....haven't killed any bruisers this way but taken my fair share of doe and small buck like this..just be on your toes..shot at a spike last year that i probably could have touched with a fishin' rod and killed a 5 point just as close...they didnt know i was in the world...it was so thick the arrow never had a chance to get to the spike but still, he was that close....good luck whatever you decide to do!

    I will second that!!

Only trouble was that I found little to no sign and left the woods covered in ticks today!!   It seemed like a good idea at the time....

Another thing to consider chicken is using the wind to your advantage.  I ended up getting in a tree last night, but the wind enabled me to get very close to where the deer were bedded.  I'd like to guess within 75 yards.  Each gust, I'd shimmy up the tree a bit then wait for the next gust to move again.  Same with calling, I tipped the can in between gusts and had two big ol' doe come to the base of my tree.  On a quiet night, I would have never been able to get into there quietly.

Silver i got a giant we are hunting up by my brothers. We get him on camera at least once a week. The most times he ever showed in a week was 5 diffferent days right around the same time frame. We looked sunday try to find his rubline no luck with that. The earliest i got him on cam is 6:47 p.m. and never later then 8:20 p.m. Can't really find a thicket his bedding in the closet one is mt. laurel about 3/4 of a mile away i don't think he's coming that far that fast.

well i know the forcast up my way is gonna be really really windy this week.....temps are gonna plummet into the low 40s and stay there for the next several days. I would assume that some bucks will be moving about. But which draws me to ask this question.  Due to the fact the rut is so close....and wer gonna be getting winds into the 40 mph range with light to moderate rain....could this be what triggers bucks to start chasing? or does this type of heavy wind stop such movement?
