fly boxes

Was wondering what you guys use for boxes.  I like the looks of the scientic angler boxes, are they the most efficient?  I like having the sinkers and floats all in the same box.  Anybody else have a better box they use?

I have a flambeau box that might suit your needs.  I actually got it for ultralight spinning.  It has the sawtooth foam insert on one side, and 10 or 12 little compartments on the other side.  With clear plastic, you dont need to open it to find what you want.  I used the foam to hold the trebles of small spinners to avoid the hideous tangles those things can cause.  The compartments would be ideal for weights, indicators, and compartments full of nymphs.

In addition to that box, I also have the 2nd to largest size of olive green morell foam box.  I really like the light weight, and I got the size specifically to fit perfectly in a vest pocket.  I use the rippled side for smaller flies and the flat side for buggers, muddlers, and small streamers.  I'll probably be getting several more of these, especially if I can find them in 2 or three different colors.  I like to travel light and that box helps me do it!

I now have 2 C & F boxes.  They are awesome; they hold tons of flies, keep them well organized and displayed, and because of the design of the slits, you are not damaging any foam so their life will increase.  One more great feature is that they are waterproof, no more drying flies out after fishing in the rain.  I use the 12 row box with the leaf in the middle for my nymphs and the 8 compartment/ 6 Row for my dries.  I also carry a box for streamers and another one for eggs but, I do not care for either of those cheap boxes.

for dry flies i do not like the foam or slit boxes.  they seem to crush flatten my hackels.  not for nymphs and such i like the flambeau foam.

I bought a morell box this year all foam with magnets to hold it shut. I was concerned with how it will hold up but so far I like it.

    Roll,
I got a morell also and though the same about thr "hinge" or lack of one....but so far it's been good.

I was thinking the same thing, but honestly, its not like its something that will open and shut with a great deal of stress on the hinge.  Even if it does let go, it looks like the design might be amenable to some duct-tape repair.  Still, that would be years down the road, at which point, you might have another $10 in the piggy-bank.  I'd say that getting 4-5 years from a flybox like that, it'd be worth it.

Ya thats what I figured if it lasts a couple years for the price (I think about 8 bucks at gander mountain) it would be worth it and I liked the design of it, aslo very light.

I use the fishpond molded boxes because the foam velcros in and I can just pull the foam out flies and all and velcro them into my pack depending what I'm fishing for...

Thanks for all the replies.  I'm leaning toward the C&F.  They look very convenient.

i got this one about amonth ago.  he's got more them on his ebay site.  the hooked just squeeze into the little spots.  dont have to dull the hooks pushing them into and out of foam.  also includes a nice assortment of flies.  cant beat that!

    "Good Luck"
