4 pc. fly rods?

May be a dumb question but why are 4pcs more expensive than 2 pc?

Ease of transportation is about it.  IIRC, only the 4 pc. models are able to travel as carry-on luggage on airlines...a big plus for people who travel to fish.

Really, the 2 pc. ones would offer better strength and smoothness, I'd think.  My next one will be a 2 pc, as thats usually all the farther I break it down anyway.

It takes rod companies more time to make 4pc rods, since each ferrule has to be fitted precisely, and 4 pc rods have 3 ferrules instead of just one like 2 pc rod. Therefore, there is more cost involved in making them.

With today's rods, there is no difference in smoothness or strength between 2pc, 3pc, and 4pc rods built by reputable rod companies. I currently don't own one 2 pc fly rod. All of mine are either 3 pc, or 4 pc.

i agree with drake.  i have 2, 3 and 4 pc rods and see no difference in the smoothness.  well thats with mid to high end rods companies.

No bueno!  Maybe make it a 2 piece...some epoxy ought to do the trick.

Try some wax on it. I had the same problem with an old diamondback I used to have. Wax made it go together easier and helped it stay together.
