Ponds @ 7 Springs

Anybody fish there ? I'm going up for a weekend and saw that they offer fishing. Don't think I'll go with the $65 a day lake, but you can fish the others for $15. Just wondering if the other ponds hold enough fish to make it worth while, going to fly & spin both. Any input would be helpful.

there's 5 or six lakes (ponds) that are stocked with trout (in the valley just after the entrance) which you need to buy a license to fish. there's also lots of other lakes that we used to fish for excellent bluegills and bass but they're all posted as no fishing. i don't know if there's a different license you need to buy to fish them but last year they didn't permit any fishing in these lakes. call 1 800 452 2223 and ask for the details - they seem to change alot. specifically ask if you can fish lake max - it's the best and hard to find but i'll tell you how to get there if you can fish it.

i mountainbike up at 7 springs fairly often and we ride past a bunch of small ponds that are back in the woods, i've been meaning to take a rod with me to see how good the fishing is up there.  some of the ponds are pretty far back in the woods so i'm sure you could fish them without anybody hassling you.  i've seen some young kids pull some nice bass out of lake Tahoe (thats the big pond at the very top of the mtn).

I fished one a few years ago, that didn't have any no fishing or special liscense posting.  It was pretty close to the chalette (sp) area that we stayed at.  There was a peninsula that went into the middle of the pond.  We caught a bunch of 10" largemouth bass.  Entertaining, but nothing great.  Definitely wouldn't pay $10 to do it.

I fished there about this time last year. You'll catch trout. When you buy your permit, they give you a map showing the lakes you are allowed to fish. If you want to catch some easy trout, try the ponds at the bottom of the hill just below the main entrance. There are three ponds on the right side. Walk up the road past the first pond and go to the last one. It is so small you can cast across it. It was loaded with trout last year.

just go to Laurel Hill or Jones Mill Run you'll have a lot more of a rewarding experience. Also the headwaters of Allen run are pretty good too near lake gosling.

Friends of mine are heading up the Mountainbike park construction and whatnot. They say those lakes are LOADED. They've even heard about a few pike in some. I can ask em for names if ya need me to.
