Early Goose nonsense...

Well our boys in Harrisburg made the western part of Crawford, Erie, and Mercer counties as confusing as you know what, yet AGAIN!

The "box" is no more, but has a reduced limit, Pymy that was in the box, now has its own limit, etc. etc.

Gotta read that thing twice EVERY year to make sure you get it right.

I read it at least twice, there is some other goofy stuff this year also. It makes you think there is no common anymore.

    For instance,

    1) The south zone opens first.

    2) Lake Erie closes first, even before the North West zone.

    3) I don't even know what to think about the Blue bill season. Were they intentionally trying to miss the migration when they picked the 2/20?

On plus side my hunting grounds were removed from those screwy SJBP goose regs. I feel bad for the folks over there, but I have expanded hunting opportunities on this side of I-79.

Dosen't the United States Fish and Wildlife Service set the waterfowl dates and bag limits?

    Least that's my understanding..........

They provide a "framework" all seasons must conform to this framework. The early goose season problems that started the thread are a direct result of the fed frameworks. Not much PA could do about SJBP geese except shrink the zone. The things I mentioned, while hijacking the thread, PA had much more leeway....

you coukdn't get much more complicated on boundry lines, for the early northwest zone. and lets raise the limit on bluebills when they aren't here, can't they just stop and think for more than 30 seconds ?

Kill em all boys.  Kill em all.  I won't get out until next weekend.

And yes all these boundries are crazy now.  Someone is going to get busted for sure hunting in an illegal zone.

    Sugarfuzz,

    (2) In the area south of SR 198 from the Ohio state line to intersection
of SR 18, SR 18 south to SR 618, SR 618 south to US Route 6,
US Route 6 east to US Route 322/SR 18, US Route 322/SR 18 west to
intersection of SR 3013, SR 3013 south to the CRAWFORD/MERCER County line. The daily bag limit is one goose; except on SGL 214 where the
season is closed to September goose hunting.

If your in Mercer county north of I-80 and west of I-79 then your limit is 3.

    Mike

Shot 6 times . Knocked one down but too far out for Mika to retrieve it.
One fellow and his young son hammered them. They had their deaks in the right spot.

My buddy Doug and I whacked them pretty good up in NY.  We put 11 down in three flocks that deked into the fields.  Nice morning.  Probably our best weapon was the flag.  It turned a couple of flocks and dropped them right on us.
