outasynch, I must be a " glass half full type, but i think a vast majority of guys WILL self police. most of the guys i know already do, both size ,n, numbers. most don,t want to be filleting for hrs. at a time. anyway, if only 50 % do obey the law, that has to mean a lot more fish in the lake . wire

Honestly how many guys keep more than 20 or 30 fish per person. I think the most my dad, brother and I kept in a trip was 25.

I wouldn't mind seeing the walleye limit being reduced to 2 a day from April to June either. That'd help keep the madness at the spillway limited.

25 combined panfish should be enough fish for everyone. Pa.has a 50 fish limit that's ridiculous, and Pymatuning no limit is crazier.  I personally would like to see a 10" fish up being legal. You want bigger panfish, you got to let them grow up. It's ridiculous to keep 8-" 9 " crappie. Panfish in my opinion are over harvested all over the state,I ice fish many lakes, and I'll pick through big numbers on Shenengo and Authur to keep a mess, maybe 10- 15 fish, yet there's guys all around me with limits of dink crappie and gills. Really don't get it,just to say you got your limit?

Keep 20 or 30 fish, dam................  I'd be happy if I could just catch some fish!

Don't mind the upper thirties low forties until the the wind begins.  It's that windchill thingy that sends me blogging.... 10-4?

Looks to be at 32 F. when the sun comes over the tree tops in the morning, eventually making it to 60 degrees by late afternoon and bringing 22 MPH wind with it, for my little piece of Penn's Woods.

I guess a guy could try his luck in the bays protected from the wind or drop a couple of anchors overboard if fishing the main lake.

Let me know how ya make out, I'll be waiting anxiously, to see what I missed.  I'm getting soft in my old age and becoming such a fair-weather fisher anymore.

Re: PYMATUNING FISHING REPORT 2016/04/06 05:08:39 (permalink)
Iv been fishing pymie 1-2 times a week from ice out to October consistently for o idk 4 yrs now ... And in that time I've had 3 trips ever that I've kept over 25 fish ... And the most was 46 ... So would the limit effect me? No ... I'm lucky to get over ten keepers on any given trip cuz I swear that lake gives me the good old "should have been here yesterday" treatment ... And by all standards pymie isnt worth keeping any fish under 10 inches because you can have those magical days where you find the slabs ... My biggest is 15.25 black crappie but I have seen 16 inchers ... So with that said how could an imposed limit be such a problem ? I can't imagine there's any one single person that consistently each trip gets more than idk 20 quality keepers . so with that in mind I'm all for change ... It's been 3 years for me now since I've seen consistent slab action but 6-8 inchers are common ... So it seems it would benefit the fishery to have said limit ... Let em grow !!

I very rarely catch craps below 10in out of there most times we wouldn't keep below 10-12in fish and 20-30 is more then I wanna clean at a time and if they shut walleye down in April well good by wading back to stupid trout fishing selling all my gear who wants rapalas? I honestly would I could slam eyes in the river it's closer but out of season so I go to pyme sold the boat so I can't troll anymore I'd be really upset if they shut eyes down, how about just no party barge snagging? .........I'll just move to Montana since pa wants is gonna ruin my only gear fishing then I can be a "prostaff" trout Fisher get a job in a fly shop and tell people about all the fishing I don't actually do

I'd rather be lucky then good, but im to good to be lucky

I probably just need to explore more ... The only reason I ever keep over 20 is if I'm giving away fish to ppl who can't go as much as I do .. My dad and grandpa consume 75% of my catch and unless I'm keeping for others I only need 5 for myself

I'd keep more if I ever really got into them typically 5-15 fish but like I said I'd hate to clean 50 by myself I'd definitely be recruiting help lol well let's see if pyme will produce anything today this am muskie on the fly just twisted a leader then one last shot at eyes tonight I have little hopes , but o well at least I beat the stockies up yesterday on oil stupid trout

Last night was cold....eyes on pole iced up constantly (pain) but , did nail one nice Eye. No wind after 9 pm. so that helped a little. Water clear and lots of stars in the moonless sky. Had a hand warmer for help. No crowds for some reason ?  LOL ....  beats working !

Trout day this Sat. ( mentored youth day ) for kids.

Thanks Fred, boats won't be crowded on the lake tonight with the gale force winds !  Mother Nature might toss out some road blocks tonight.

Short night for me, rain wasn't too bad, lake was churned up and somewhat murky. Surprisingly the wind wasn't too bad either, I just struck out. Going to lay low for a few days. Good fishing fellas !

thunderpole, What is a rope buddy?

Went out Tuesday evening and got one eye on countdown. Am I getting old and soft or is this weather getting to others also? I am either being thrown around in wind or freezing out there. Oh ya, no need to tell me I am getting old, I guess soft just goes with it.

And I thought there was a lure I haven't purchased.
For Pymy I could stick with 8 lures of which three are Rapalas. I have lots of others that I try when nothing else is working and of course they mostly do not either. I think they might if I tried them when the fish are biting but we all know that is not going to happen.
I have a couple lures that I have carried around in my big box since I was in my teens and have never caught a fish on. I should make it a challenge to either catch something on them or snag and lose them.

Have a good one Thunder I'll be slipping into your spot now ! LOL.....  I'm going to reel in slow too !

Can't beat Rapalas ! Something about that action. Tried cheaper knockoffs years ago they just don't produce ! Save your money for the originals ! I'd love a South wind for about 3 days in a row !

Enjoy that West Coast !

So Tuna you had Medallion Hors-d'oeuvres and fresh Walleye fillet, geez that sounds good.  Maybe someday I'll get to see what Walleye taste like.
