He can't play anyway- guess the drugs wore off , fans hate him, he needs to go back to the Dominican permanently  - maybe he'll go in their hall of fame. Cooperstown shouldn't ever see his sorry azz.

last time I watched baseball it was,  Goose Gossage, Tommy John, Thurman Munson, Willie Randolpf, Reggie Jackson, Lou Piniella & Gregg Nettles ..
Basketball, Patrick Ewing, Charles Oakley, Kiki Vandewegh,Maurice Cheeks, Gerald Wilkins , Trent Tucker
Even went to a few of those games ...
Since then those sports have turned me off.. Have no clue who is who now..
At least smash mouth football still is a bit more thrilling to watch on tv, at times..

Fichy, Actually A-Roid was born in NY, NY (Washington Heights) moved with his family to DR when he was young.  Moved back to the US (Miami) when he was in grade school.
So, technically, he is a home grown enhanced cheater.  LOL

Clint, The varsity B-ball team sounds awful but its hard to fathom that they could be that bad.  Coached JV and Varsity back in the late 70's.  Enjoyed watching kids develop their talents and working together as a team.  I think the biggest mistake ever made was going to a shot clock on the high school level.  Not an issue with skilled, talented players but can be detrimental to players who aren't as skilled.

If we get a few more snow blasts and thaws like we have been fish might start setting up on spawn earlier than normal. Especially since fish starting wintering earlier this year with the early blast of winter. I'm ****ed with this higher water at this time of year as many of the winter brutes are probably up river at this point.

Fichy, you're probably looking at quite some time at elevated flows. Since they are more on top of their game at the spill gates we're gonna see longer periods of 1000+ flows rather than just couple day blowouts...

Andy, if it doesn't, I'll still go.  As long as it's stable for a few days. My best fish this year was caught when it was over 2k.  If it's whitecaps over 100' deep, that's a little much.

Now IC data isn't saying ice anymore.
We had a much longer warm spell after much less cold and it didn't give most recent flow data.
I think someone got a talking to.

So much for taking it easy TB......... ;0p      Nice.

Say what you will about A roid.   He used PED's, his social life is a mess and he is an attention seeker,   he made poor choices.     He got a bum wrap from this though.  They are just taking the word of a drug dealer who is getting paid by MLB.  He did not fail a single test, was never caught with a controlled or banned substance.   If you were on trial would you like to be convicted be testimony  of a FELON who was getting paid to testify against you.   Did he do it, he most certainly probably did.   Morally does he deserve this big suspension?  Probably.   Is he Bud Seilig's whipping boy  does he have a vendetta against him  and is he being treated differently that a player that actually FAILED a test,   definitely.

All true clint.
I'm pretty sure if there was a way to know all the names that took performance enhancing drugs there would be very few people elected to the hall of fame over the last dozen years or the next.
They all do it.

Not saying its right just that it is what it is.

Tried to play the fish lefty as much as I could.
Lost 2 brutes that I could turn out of the current.

Not easy taking pics while playing them with the off hand.

Screw A Rod and all the rest of those over paid cry babies playing a game.
More important are those Steel with the bright flashy fly in their mouth. As I said before I'm jealous of you 2B that you can catch those beauties on a moments notice.

Well I can get to fishing for them in about ten minutes but catching them is up to them.
Nice to be able to give them the opportunity to crunch a fly any time I want.
Have to work on my 1 hand picture taking skills.
Well there is always tomorrow.

Here's my take on the steroid era in baseball-unless you start to penalize the teams as well as the player it will never change.  The owners know one thing and one thing only, how much money can I make.  Do you really think suspending A-Rod for the season impacts the Yankees pocketbook?  The YES network has guaranteed cable money whether they lose or win.  Think I'm wrong take a look at your cable bill.  Until you start fining and forfeiting games performance enhancing drugs will continue to be a pox on the great American past time.

Nice job twobob.  I too wish I lived closer.

I'm not jealous. If I lived closer to those, I'd be farther away from the salt.
Instead I have to drive way too far to get to either.....
Oh well, I love mountains and quick access to wilderness and where I live has plenty of great fishing right out the door...That's why about  half our income is spent on travel.
Good ones!   Blow by blow next time would be appreciated. Inquiring minds want to be entertained.

Everything is an equation tottering on a balance beam.

Great rustface fishing around me but with the crowds since the movie I haven't fished inland trout in years.
Work and wife have put the daks out of the question.
So its smallfaced bass  and carp mostly ball summer for me.
Wish I had more access to striped salty fish but until I hit the mega ball having everything is just a dream.

Re: Why would you need # 1/0 hooks 2014/01/15 13:45:28 (permalink)
Not much of a tale today.
1 fish on long enough to say goodbye and 2 missed this morning.

Around 10 a m I missed 2 more.
Not sure whether to blame last nights insomnia and the lack of reflexes it may have caused or the cold front moving in making what yesterday were hard grabbers into nippers today.

Only no of 1 fish landed by a friend and 3 or 4 other bites he missed.

More like the bug than the windshield today.

I hope the sun was out there like it was here today. I could've fished the river  today and got nothing but a log and a chunk of ice and gone home feeling like I did a designer drug. Work was even very pleasant.  You on the other hand , had some tugs and activity, which in the end is an adrenaline rush, but not a strain on the injury. Guardian angel, I think.
Thanks for sharing the details. More fuel for the urge to go.

Have to agree on the guardian angle :).
Came home ate did a load of laundry went to the store for fixing for tonights burritos spent some quality time with my cat.
Even though I was stumbling like the town drunk I went back for a last hour of fruitless flogging.
All in all beats the heck out of working band little stress (my friend I mentioned called it physical therapy) on the shoulder.
Avery enjoyable way to pass the day.
Just 1 duffelbag pinner that had to come and start casting over my rod.
I think I'll do it again tomorrow.

Great to hear you're wasting your time well :)

Looks like after Friday its a blast of steady winter. Maybe a long stretch below freezing???

Hard to believe the estuary has frozen over twice in the past month and a half and thawed again... can't imagine what things would look like if these thaws never happened . ..

Twobob, hopefully your water stays open for some time before winter comes back, and thanks for sharing the pics

Got to Pulaski late Sunday- two VERY near Deer incidents - both around town that night.
Welll had a visitor at the house- think a Chipmunk. Nuts between pillows in 2 bedrooms and some more laying here and there-
Thanks for a third clean bedroom lol.
Monday- -bedding to the Laundromat and the vacume bit the dust so off to Wal Mart- 20 mi each way. No fishing just house work,
Rained most of Mon night and the high river was up higher Tues- Kept cleaning- place really needed a good one.
This AM-  a bit of snow - bugged out bout noon.
Really wanted to fish and most of the snow is gone with mild temps but frankly it as a bit more water than I like and house responsibilities kinda came first this time around.
Makes ya wonder though- much as  like havin a place up there back in the Motel days it was just eat, sleep and fish.
Hey Two Bob -thanks- next time.

I wish I could have claimed a work injury but it was trying to fill all the open spots on the men's Olympic ice dancing squad.
Just glad I didn't turn my triple axle into a death spiral.

Wish I could have been more help g2
Seems a lot of people find the expense of taxes, upkeep and lack of real time for enjoyment leads back to hotel camping.
Of course if you want to be there during Sept- early NOV that can be a problem sometimes.
