how many times a year do you fish the erie tribs?

???????????????

I fished 3 times in my life, im hoping this year i get to go more than a few times, but i like to go during the week and on the cold days so i have holes to myself.  also wanted to get some advice on a nice but not too $$$$ steelhead rod, right now im using a 6 foot ugly stick.

Usualy about once a week/every other week, from Labor Day until the ice starts to form...  Then once a week again once we have safe ice.

Check out Gander Mountain for cheap steelhead rods, lots of nice rods in the $30-$70 range.

If I'm lucky, 2 or 3 times a year.  But I live 100 miles away.  You should also ask how far away guys live.  Somebody that goes 20 times a year sounds like a serious fisherman, but when you find out he lives 3 miles from Walnut, that kind of makes it less impressive.

im 2 hours away and i fish it late august until april although with the conditions ive only been up twice this year, albeit very productive trips all things considered.  (2 fish 1st trip, 12 the 2nd)  anyways its about 25-30 trips a year although with great fishing everywhere for me i dont find myself with erie being my only option in those months.  fall river fishing and fall bassing will keep me busy when the conditions arent to my liking in erie (high water, 90 degree heat like last week).  after 7 years i find im just as happy doing any fishing on a weekend than just erie because there is so much out there to go after.  jumbo perch and bruiser bassing is right around the corner at my lake in wv and i dont have to grease elbows to fish.  last week i was the only guy on a 150 acre trophy lake.  this winter i do plan on doing more ice fishing whether its steelhead or otherwise, and finally trying my hand at burbot.  so i look forward to my balls freezing solid in a few months.

I average 3 or 4 times per week.  I live about 15 to 30 minutes away from most of the popular spots on Elk and Walnut.

My father, our fishing buddy Mike, and I made 14 overnighters last season. It is 3 hours from my driveway in Carrolltown to Walnut Access. We are shooting for 16 trips this season. One down, 15 to go. We are also planning on 2 or 3 three day trips. We are also eyeing up Ohio for March and April. My wife's relatives near the Chagrin will probably have visitors in the spring of 2008. We are a superstitious trio. We stay at the El Patio, room 157, we hit Choo-Choo's for 1 large beer before hitting the sack for the next day's fishing. Keep an eye out for us. I am anxious to meet some of the characters on these forums. Fishmonger

Already gone 4 times this year. Ill be getting one more trip in before my sons born. but after next week til he is born the trips are going to be put on hold. Last year before it froze over I was up every other weekend after sept and then a few times in feb and march.  The misses said I can go as long as Im not calling off of work and everything is ok once her and the baby are home a comfortable. I just cant wait til hes older and then he can come along.

8-10 times a year. I live 212 miles from Elk. But i have a cottage in Warren
county that i use for a forward base. Cuts the trip down to 75 mins.
It also puts me in New York more often now.

Archery season, bird season, late trout season.... I cant think of any reason to trade solitude for fishing with 10,000 people who cant even answer a womans question... you know who you were, kelsea said she couldnt believe the greed.

I usually make 2-3 trips a year, its a 3 1/2 hour drive for me. I learned something over the past two years and that is, if it doesnt rain for days on end, im not going. Ive never seen so much crap fishing in all my years as I have with it being clear. When people see the fish, its almost impossible to catch them. You give me some muddy water where people think its not even worth fishing... when a guy thinks your insane for even crossing the creek. Yeah, thats how I like it. You can bet your money the next time I hear that its BLOWN OUT... ill be there. I hate to drive up and drive back home in the same day but what the heck. Its the only way its even worth coming.

I live about 75 miles south of the west side streams.  I'll probably fish 20 + times this year in PA.  Years ago when I really had the "steelhead bug" I went more often.

changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes....nothing remains quite the same

Must be nice... though I fish my home waters just as much. There is nothing like the feeling of a steelhead at the end of your line. I'm debating on buying a camper and leaving it up at folly's or something. Would be a nice get away place.

same as katty i live right down the road from walnut and go when the conditions are good and crowds are light. I have only been out one time so far this year.I never Fish lower parts of the streams. Combat fishing just isn't my thing. You guys can have the lower parts of the creeks. Come on rain!!!

One or sometimes twice a week if conditions are favorable, and in that I mean the driving, not the fishing. I live about an hour and a half south of Erie, and driving up I-79 in lake effect snow is just a plain bad idea, no matter how good I know the fishing would be once I get there.
