Went down to elk creek access last night saw a couple of guys hook into some steel but no one could land them still too much lake in them.
Checked out trout run at lunch there were a couple of dozen fishing in the lake, did not see anyone hook into them. I think I might take the boat to trout run tonight; maybe I can pi$$ of the shore fishermen. There were two fish in trout run by the little waterfalls.

I hope you are joking,  if not... I hope someone plants a 1/2 oz. egg sinker in your chest, and about 100 yards of mono around your prop.  It is a big lake and there is plenty of room for everyone.  Shore fishermen are limited where they can go and be productive,  boat anglers are not.  I am a boater and would NEVER show that kind of disrespect to my fellow anglers.  Again, I honestly hope you are joking.

ORIGINAL: fishrmn

Landed a couple today, seen a few others landed in the am including two very nice browns.

By the way, the new project hole below the stop sign hole looks great, and so did the fish that were holding in it! (see below)

Had to practice self photography with the timer this afternoon, there was no one around to take my picture...  How often can you say that about the project waters?

Elk was still to muddy for me to fish, but I'm sure a few fish rain it also.  With the cool weather ahead this week, look for the next rain to really set things off.  Still not alot of fish around, but enough to keep things interesting.

Report: Had a few buisiness meetings in erie and did some fishing everyday. THERE ARE VERY FEW FISH
I was lucky enough to catch a few each day but I'm the type to cach 20-30 if the fish are there. I watched a skinny kid snag 2 out of the new project hole on Mon or Tues. swinging 3 flies over them 20 times and that will happen. the kid actually was setting up his camera on a rock and taking pictures of himself. Funny thing is, he probably went home and showed his friends. Lucky he threw them back because I had my cell ready to call the fish cops.
anyhow the fishing is very tough and most wont catch any.

BTW, the channel at walnut really filled in since they made that new hole. Maybe they should dig that out. It would provide about 60 yards of fishing area.

Elk is very warm and stagnant, I only caught 2 fiah there in 5 days.

Honestly, I am about as likable a guy as you will ever meet.  That said, there are things that drive me crazy and I will almost always speak my mind about them (Trespassers, Poachers, People who crowd out others on streams when the entire stream is open, litterbugs, Discourteous boaters and jetskiers, Thieves, and those who condemn honest sportsmen for keeping a legal fish).  I have always held myself to a high set of standards and ethics.  I expect the same from others, particularly sportsmen.  I can guarantee you that 90% of the lands that are now posted and nonaccessible are that way because of a few irresponsible sportsmen that ruined it for everyone.  I will get off of my soapbox now...

I don't know if masterflyman was referring to Tim, but if he is I have a HARD time believing his accusations.  Tim is a very good fisherman who catches more than enough fish w/ out snagging.

I'm calling TROLL on the fishing report.

I was there, not when Tim caught those fish though. But Tim wasn't even fishing a fly rod that day. Actually, the only people I saw there that morning fishing with flyrods didn't fit the description of "skinny kid".  I wasn't there all day so who knows. "Masterflyman" couldn't even remember what day it was that he was there.

Perhaps he did witness what he said, but I don't believe it was fishrman (Tim).  I can tell just by the techniques he was using while he was around me, that he catches his fair share of fish and certainly wouldn't have to resort to foul hooking fish and taking pictures of them.

I talked to Tim that day and fished just up stream for a while.I bealive Stillhead was fishing Manchester at the time.As Tim said he was there and at the time, there was only about 3 fisherman.Tim was not using a fly rod or 3 flys on.He was working very hard for a fish and even trying to hide(low profile, staying back away from the hole). Not like after my 2 mile hike upstream when that hole had 12 guys around it.Some nut deep in it and every fish hooked was walked way down stream to be dragged in.The report is BS.But I will tell what,if you want to talk about unsportsman BS.What about the guys who circle the falls above Manchester and drag there line through a foot of water. Some days I just want to scream WTF.Matt

RE: the run 2007/09/14 16:34:14 (permalink)
Just got done reading the report , absolutely ridiculous!  Not only was I using a spinning rod, but I was using a single egg not flies.  I was not swinging anything either, I was kneeling way back away from the hole sight fishing to a pod of freshies (treefrog can confirm that...).  I'm about 99% sure this is a troll from this site who wasn't even there...  The only people who were fishing this area at the time were Stillhead, Treefrog, and one other older gentleman.

If you look on the second picture, you can see my split shot about 4 inches from the fishes mouth, with line going deep into its mouth... you can also see the line going into the mouth of the third fish if you look close.  I can assure you I catch plenty enough fish fairly that I have no need to snag/line fish.  Anyone who has fished with me can assure you this.

Thanks,
-Tim

There are 152 chromers swimming up Walnut as we speak, and Elk is getting 237.  The eastside tribs are void of fish movement, except 20, which will receive 78 fish this evening.  Considering that there have only been 653 fish staging off the PA shoreline, I think that's a good run.  Don't hurt yourselves getting to them.  There will be many, many more to come.  The largest fish moving in is only 9.5 lbs, and he's pi$$ed.  Something about a jones for chartreuse powerbait.  I think he's chasing a dragon.  Good luck, fellas.

Water temp is actualy 69 degrees off walnut.  He's full of $hit if he flat out told you there was 0 fish in the tribs.

As for steelheadfillet...  Why don't you go catch 16 more off the end of the pier tomorrow in the 5-7fters, maybe you'll get washed off.

It is rainning right now, 10:00 pm.  The cold front has come through.  Walnut was low and clear today.  There were a few fish in the very lower end of the creek.  I checked the stop sign hole and most of the project waters this morning around 10:00 am.  I saw no fish in any of the holes there.  I did not go any further upstream, so I have no idea about what is up there.

If you want to come up, go ahead, but unless a ton of fish come in tonight, don't expect a lot of fish.  I guess if you walk around, you will find some fish.  Good luck.
