Nice weather and the river is up to 1500 plus. Looks like my Christmas day plans may be out.

Only some banks left here and the grass is greener than it was in the summer. We even had a thunder boomer lady night at around  1300 or so.

Not looking good for ice here for probably 2 weeks or so. Not going to get cold until next week. I have also enjoyed the lack of snow removal and the boiler only running for hot water though. River is high but from what I hear somewhat clear and probably fishable.  FWIW I also heard a rumor (and it's only that) that the fish they injected with saline as a test to the ones injected with B12 are getting better also.  Wonder if the change in diet once they enter there river is helping.

WOW what a great day, was outside in a lite shirt. Had to go to Elmira for family so only got to be out for a bit, but it was nice.  stopped at Cortland line today and got a few freebies from Rich, in a few months they will have a sale on lines getting rid of discontinued line. Last year I got a smoking deal on line because they changed packaging.  sadly they are discounting my favorite salmon and steel taper, but Rich said their new ''big fly '' line is similar........

It was spring like even in to the late evening... Absolutely gorgeous! Some farmers were even out and about taking advantage of the weather. I was outside all day long. Ground is completely thawed out. Even the tiny little swamps and ponds were nearly free of ice early yesterday. Its getting lighter out everyday now. I think we're gonna be in for a rough February though... 2007 was a similar pattern as this fall in to winter has been and we got 10-12 foot in one storm once February came around

Is it Artic Blast or 'Winter Vortex' or was 'Winter Vortex' last year and 'Artic Blast' this year? No, wait, there's no ice yet so it must be 'global warming' this year. Dang 'climate change', so confusing!

I need a double 'bourbon over ice' to sort all this out.

Lol jack!!! I personally don't mind it... Even if we get pounded the next 2 months I'm fine with it. I've burned half ThE wood so far I did at this point last year. I do think we're in for it though. Even Above average temps at this point could make for a very snowy couple months... I've yet to have a snow storm stop the tractor or bulldozer from moving it... Including the 10 footer in 2007 :)

Would love to catch up with you for spring steel jack

I rarely sleep well on these nights as I am constantly getting up and checking the conditions outside for the am cleanup\commute. The band looks thin and fairly intense and for the most part over my house.  So far about 2 or 3 inches have fallen and although it is snowing I can see my barn across the drive so it is not that bad. Another log on the fire and back for some unfittful sleep to wake up in another 2 hours or so and decide weather to clean up or wait until I get home. Hopefully it is the latter so I only have to do it once.....................

Well I was wrong... A few inches below knee height on me... Could be near 20" in my locality... It was maybe an inch at midnight... A couple hours probably had 6 inches an hour fall. Sky is clear at the moment as the monster swayed a little south I believe

Yup radar shows that the band widened and moving south over the lower part of the county. Clint you may come home to a big surprise bud... Still a long narrow tail hanging over the lake. I don't think its stopping anytime soon
