Beautiful fish crappie...even better that you sent her back to spawn.

I dont think I’ve done Arthur in two years? Maybe three? I hit the stumps at wilhelm last spring instead. Way less crowded and way more peaceful, but it was another 45 minutes north.

So what should I do? Give Arthur another chance this spring? I’ve been considering it.

MyWar, I'd advise you to stay away from Lake Porktown. It is offensively malodorous, synonyms: fetid, foetid, foul funky, ill sented, noisome, smelly, plain out stinking, nasty, grewsome, gross, disgusting and getting worse day by day. Trust me, STAY AWAY!!

Sorry Pork but gotta tell it the way it is. Did catch that Crappie on a piece of pork grind though.

Thanks Mike, I enjoyed your posts on the Homesteading thread. Hope you have a great harvest this year.

We can kiss our aszes goodbye!

For the next 3 weeks I would recommend bringing these along. Especially if you plan on fishing the shallows or shore fishing. I wouldn't recommend bringing children or having a shore lunch either.

It's as bad as a Pork Pen. Bad enough some areas of the lake bottom are like a septic tank leech field if get out of boat to wade or having that black stinkin' muck all over your anchor.

At least at Pymatuning it gets rough enough to wash the carcasses up onto the bank. They can deuterate much faster on land. The sun, rain, birds, critters, bugs, flies and maggots can have field days.  Thank goodness for that when the Koi Herpes virus hit it a few years back.  No fish stinks as bad as a Shad.

Mywar, I would stick to the rivers till then when fishable. Much cleaner with nice sand/gravel and flow plus the Small Mouth are a blast this time of year.

I'm still scratching my head when you said "I'm switching to a slip bobber" when we were fishing 2' - 3' ov water. That is a 1/2 hour ov your time you will never get back you know?

Weather forecast is not looking for fishable rivers.

Plan to fish upwind. I didn’t notice the dead fish. I’m sure it was a pretty nasty kill though. Lake was stuffed with shad last year and long cold winter.
