Genie, They can't even do background checks to disqualify the finalists of the 3 parties and local elections. Seems it wouldn't matter anyways these days. So even the voters (slim) that follow politics don't have a good choice when said and done.

Oh well, Hope everyone has a good Holiday.

I got a AR-15 with a red dot and a few other guns for Christmas this year while I still can, Lol. Supreme Court had to step in last time and say "you can't do that".

James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act - Wikipedia

The bill was subsequently reauthorized in 2015, with coverage extended to 2090.

Reauthorization[edit]
On December 18, 2015, the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Reauthorization Act passed as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2016, which extended medical benefits to affected individuals until 2090

Looks like this wasn't a refusal nor a cut off.
It a new program
Gillibrand, Schumer, Garbarino, Nadler, Goldman, D’Esposito Introduce Bipartisan, Bicameral Legislation To Fix World Trade Center Health Program Funding Shortfall  - Kirsten Gillibrand | U.S. Senator for New York

the current program doesn't expect a shortfall until 2028.
it will be funded before then. I know it and they know it too and only nincompoops believe otherwise
they're charactering the add on new bill as ending the program
which isn't true , but is typical for agenda driven slime reporting today

It’s not a new program or a new bill. It’s funding. That’s what I said in my original post. I never said anything about ending the program. But if it’s not funded, what exactly do you think will happen to the program?

The program was originally established in 2011. Thank America hating libtard John Stewart for that.

A recent attempt to secure funding was in the stand alone bill that you linked, but it never got through the Republican controlled House, so that bill died.

Then the bill sponsors tried to secure the funding by rolling it into the CR that Trump and Musk killed, and Johnson capitulated because he’s got the backbone of a jellyfish. It was left out of the final version of the CR that ultimately passed.

It’s very nice that you are so optimistic that it will get funded *eventually*, but I can’t think of a single reason why the house should not secure funding for this right now, can you?

Also if you actually read the history of this program in the Wikipedia link you posted, it’s just one example after another where congressional democrats tried to pass legislation to take care of 9/11 first responders while republicans blocked it.

To a few people on this board. Anyone who doesn't blindly support all Dem policies, and in addition vote a straight Dem ticket are thought to be "right wing nut jobs".

Oh look, more name calling. How MAGA of you.

So there is too much debt for Trump and Musk to take care of 9/11 first responders. But not too much debt for another round of Trump tax cuts for billionaires, even after we now know that trumps 2017 tax cuts caused major deficits and blew up the national debt during his first term.

https://www.propublica.or...le/national-debt-trump

Trump added around $3 trillion to the national debt by the end of 2019, that’s BEFORE stimulus spending for COVID. A substantial portion of that debt is due to the 2017 tax cuts.

So let’s just be clear about where this “unstainable” debt comes from. And you may think Elon Musk needs tax breaks more than 9/11 first responders need healthcare, but I’ll have to respectfully disagree.

did Biden and the dems  hate them too while adding trillions to the debt?
But it's Trump's fault now, right?

I m old enough to remember Biden sending out $1400 checks after the GA senate runoff…guess in Liberal fantasy land, that doesn't count towards the national debt.

Funding Insufficiency

On February 15, 2019, the Special Master determined that the funding remaining in the VCF would be insufficient to pay all pending and projected claims under current VCF policies and procedures and, consequently, announced modifications to VCF policies consistent with her statutory obligations.

Permanent Authorization

On July 29, 2019, President Trump signed into law H.R. 1327, The Never Forget the Heroes: James Zadroga, Ray Pfeifer, and Luis Alvarez Permanent Authorization of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund. The VCF Permanent Authorization Act extends the VCF’s claim filing deadline from December 18, 2020, to October 1, 2090, and appropriates such funds as may be necessary to pay all eligible claims. Please see the VCF Permanent Authorization Act page for more details.
