none of them can literally interject themselves into congress to blow up a spending bill like Musk just did.

Geeze man, the feigned outrage by the leftist talking heads over an  adviser to the prez  that's part of Trump's administration doing what Trump tasked him with has youinz spun up because the guy has Trump's ear.

I'm sure you can't see how hollow their/your  argument is

I'm not allowed to have an opinion about Elon Musk and his involvement with congress on this issue that could possibly deny military members a paycheck over the holidays?

Shutdown and government funding bill aside…

Musk has publicly stated he will basically keep throwing money at elections until he gets the desired outcome. He has said he will support primary challengers for congressional democrat and republican candidates that he doesn’t like. And as the richest man in the world, this threat carries considerable weight.

He’s not just simply exercising 1st amendment rights. He’s (1) using his vast financial resources to influence elections, and then (2) when his preferred candidate is in office, he is imposing disproportionate influence over public policy to his own personal benefit.

For example - Trump puts him on an “advisory board” (or whatever DOGE is supposed to be) that is going to make recommendations on government funding, meanwhile spaceX and Tesla have received about $20 billion in federal funding over the last 20 years. The stock of both companies shot up immediately after the election because investors anticipated the federal government throwing boatloads of contracts and subsidies at musk’s companies. Which of course they will, because musk threw a ton of money behind the Trump campaign. The conflict of interest and corruption could not possibly be more obvious.

No single individual should have this much influence on our elections and our government. The term “oligarch” is being used to describe him and I don’t think it’s too far off the mark. Anybody that has ever complained about “money in politics”, should be outraged.

But of course MAGA will pretend everything is fine because he’s on team Trump right now and all of the above would only be bad if a democrat was doing it.

But surprise, surprise, musk and Trump are already screwing up the spending bill after Johnson had negotiated a bipartisan deal.

It enraged Republicans because once again, Johnson went behind their backs in committee and gave the 'Crats everything they wanted with a CR that covered clear up 'til March of '26. Had Schumer lickin' his chops and smilin' from ear to ear waitin' for it in the Senate. Surely you didn't think that schitte was gonna flush, didja?

Republicans would have been wise to take the initial funding bill that went to 2026. Now they have to go through the whole thing again in March. And there will be a lot less motivation for democrats to work with them because it won’t be like 5 days before Christmas, and Trump will be in office so it will make him look bad when it all blows up.

Your concerns about Musk might have been received better had you indicated similar concerns about Soros over the years--You did NOT- therefore it seems your Musk issues are purely politically motivated.

I have been opposed to the Citizens United decision since 2010, which is when SCOTUS opened the door to this.

let’s actually compare musk to Soros tho

Did George Soros spend a quarter billion dollars on super PACs, and then did Biden or Obama put George Soros in charge of some pseudo governmental department that might have significant influence on not just the federal budget overall, but specifically how much money the federal government gives to george Soros’ own companies? I don’t think that ever happened.

Did George Soros spend $44 billion to acquire one of the most widely used social media platforms in the world to amplify Biden’s or Obama’s political messaging? I don’t think that happened either.

Go ahead and look up how much George Soros funded super PACs spent on boosting democrats and compare it to what musk spent. Tell me which is more.

What musk is now doing is beyond anything we have seen before.

But what’s really funny is that republicans only ever complain about George Soros, but never actually talk about fixing the problem, which would be to reverse Citizens United. Republicans will defend the SCOTUS decision that allowed the wealthiest people in the country to have almost unlimited power, but then act like it’s a travesty of justice when a rich person supports democrats.

You want to fix the problem? Toss citizens United and level the playing field. EVERY prominent elected Democrat has publicly stated they would support it. How many republicans have? None.

to boil it down, what I'm hearing is a one man super pac (that enjoys major genpop support) is your big concern,
I "get it"
I'll wait to see how it shakes out and not be fear mongered by those that are major bummed that they're no longer in control of "business as usual"

side note; the amount of money that's spent in  modern day elections is obscene, period

as far gov money and SpaceX, hopefully we get  better value than we did with Solyndra

I appreciate this. Although I enjoyed the obtuse/stupid slings, I often find myself agreeing on your GOOD IDEAS. Your bad ideas, you are a moron! Good ideas, you OKay.

I don’t like the one man power. But the guy is proven to know WTF is going on in manufacturing and marketing. I’m willing to see what he and Vivek (biomedical) have to say with efficiency. They have been proven to know it in their specific business. Don’t get me wrong, I am skeptical AF. But willing to see how it rolls. If run correctly, what this country has needed for 40+ years I’ve been CIRCLING this “flat” rock. Just like said “flat rock”, doubt reality will prevail.

Funny you mention Solyndra.

You know who else got bailed out by Obama’s LPO?

https://www.energy.gov/lpo/tesla

Tesla got $465 million in 2010.

How much you wanna bet Elmo decides to pull the ladder up behind him? Because I can guarantee it’s gonna happen, and I can guarantee people like you are gonna come up with reasons why it’s all good.
