Opening day started out sunny and mild. Got warmer as day progressed. Aroun 1 it clouded up quickly. I was running some errands, thankfully only about 10 minutes from home. By the time I arrive home the rain was already falling . Exited my truck and was almost blown over by the force of the wind. I never experienced being in a tornado and was hoping I wasn't going to deal with one now. About 2:20 the power went off. The rain had slowed to a trickle. I went out to look around. Yard a mess with fallen small limbs and branches. Two pieces of soffit ripped off corner of back porch and a big piece of siding that let loose from my neighbors house.
Temperature fell as day turned into night. House was in the mid 40's by the time the power was restored about 9:00 PM. Had cell phone service but no internet. Comcast was here around 10 this morning and got that up and running.
Years ago I had no cell phone, internet or cable TV and apparently got along just fine. Now, I can't imagine having to do without it. It must be very difficult for those unfortunate enough to have to cope with power outages that last for days and in many cases longer.
