Between Sunday and this afternoon we picked up a little over 1.75” on the  rain gauge here. It was a nice soaking rain.  Plants have responded well to it

Pulled my softneck a little bit ago. Very good yield, lots of 1s and 2s on a scale of 5 being a small head. I still have another 120 hardneck to get to this evenging. How long do I wait until I braid that softneck? This is my first year for it. I've only planted the hard these last 4 years.

Picked 2 maters already and have 2 peppers about ready.  Plants starting to take off.  Cukes and zukes were in late so they are behind.  Pulled spinach yesterday that bolted...lettuce probably won't be far behind.  Herbs look like a jungle...love picking the fresh basil for caprese and the cilantro for salsa, gaucamole or to spruce up the fajitas and tacos.

Nice going folks on the gardening.
To pens question, I only grow hardneck but I'd assume to braid asap before the stalks dry. I don't get that fancy in braiding.
My lettuce and spinach have been cleared out. Both did well.
Tomatoes are a jungle with a ton of fruits. Been pulling a few ripe ones since Saturday.
Couldn't wait any longer on the garlic because I don't want them to start splitting.
Just got 1/2 of my batch laid out to dry and hopefully get the rest out tonight.
98% is prime seed quality. This will be the last go around on replanting these 8th generation ( of me ) german reds and white. I'll pass a bunch along for others to plant.
I'm going more towards roja and purple stripes in my fall planting.
Lots to do and way to hot out to make progress.
Stay cool.

It's been a minute for this thread. I know we're all busy. I'm done with the pickles 32 Quarts and 12 pints ( 2 flavors). I just got a dozen quarts of tomatoes up, and there are crazy amounts out there to be picked. My peppers were all duds, but the neighbors brought us a couple of baskets. We made stuffed peppers, and you can never go wrong with that tomato pepper cuke salad. Hopefully everyone is having a great growing season. I'd say we still have a good 2 months left🤞.

It’s been a so-so year here. The good is the couple of gallons of blueberries off of 4 small bushes, 39 jars of green beans with at least one more good picking, Had a small row of carrots and got 5 pints out of them, lettuce, beets, onions and garlic did well also. The not so good is the cucumber, watermelon and pumpkins are pretty much toast, tomatoes are not as good as usual but may rally yet. Jury is still out on the peppers, corn and potatoes.

Hope everyone has a successful season

My garden really took off this year, even a little to much. Tomatoes got way out of control due to lack of pruning but sakes alive, they are producing like crazy now. As of tonight we have 30 quarts canned and the motherload is just starting.
Beans, yellow and green were and still fantastic yield. We canned 16 pints of 3 bean salad.
Onions did well and peppers took off in July producing great both bell and hot.
Cukes went wild and we shut them down after 16 pints of pickles.
Dehydrator runs daily with all herbs.
Garlic did fantastic although the drying process with the humidity even with fans was tough.
I'm retiring and giving away all my German reds and white seed Garlic. Going strictly roja and purple stripe forward. .
Brussels and cabbage are doing great also.
I planted zucchini late and it's looking like about 3 weeks to harvest
Probably run another round of greens soon and call it a good season.
With our meats, fish and vegetables from the homestead, we're well into 2024 without starving
