Pen , I'm happy to hear things are doing OK. Just gotta get through 1 more day of scorcher, for now.
Chickens here look like they will make it thanks for afternoon hose showers and cool nights. We're ready to get things done on Saturday.
Just finished the 2hr watering duty on garden Have to wait until the sun isn't beating down.
Also tied a second string on most tomatoes.
Heck yeah, I'd take 2 days of showers..
Most our farmers are drawing water from creeks and streams.
I'm on the fence about my garlic turnout. It was a mild winter and it sprouted all winter. The stalks are thick and tall ( with scapes now ) but just picked 1 and the bulbs are a little undersized that I'd thought. Still a B grade and we got a few weeks left.
Peppers ain't doing squat. Not sure why I have trouble. Maybe need more fertilizer ?
Lettuce is weak, spinach so so , beans weak ,radishes maybe ready next week. Cabbage and Brussels doing great but they're the long haul.
Didn't bother or get time for cukes and zucchini. Local farm stands will do.
Fruit trees:
Zero peach blooms.
Apples and pears good
Blueberries good.
We didn't do pigs as my farmer retired from raising pigs and we'll take this year off.
All our livestock and game harvests seem to work out perfectly to almost the year of harvest.
We'll be short on pork in 2024.
Be well and stay cool
