Made a fatal mistake. Put 18 roma tomato plants, 6 zucchini, 6pickle cukes and 6 slicer tomatoes in the cold frame yesterday.
Stone cold dead this morning.
Snow expected tonight.
Mother always told me not to put frost sensitive plants outside before mother's day.
Man I wish I had that green house...
36 tomato plants left from my seed.

The last frost date for the mid Hudson region is May 18th.  You are really rolling the dice if you try to plant before that date.  As far as "hardening off" seedlings, that should be done in increments.  Start off with an hour outside and slowly build up over a few weeks.

I ran the tiller yesterday. Really glad I did as we got pounded with rain lastnight. Hopefully I get the plastic down this weekend and prepped. Maybe stick some plants in the ground in about 3 weeks or so. All depends on this bi-polar weather we have to deal with. 🙄

I tilled half the garden last week...planted lettuce, spinach and snow peas.  Had the entire garden turned over from the previous weekend with the shovel and then spread bone meal, compost and a bunch of bags of garden soil.  HD had it on sale last week.  5 bags for $10.  Topped off some of the flower beds with it too.  Cleaned out old potting soil from some of my veggie pots and flower pots, and put in new....threw the old soil in the garden.   Now, hoping to keep the blight at bay this year.....wasn't too bad, until pretty late last year.

Waiting to till the second half that I plant maters and peppers in....forgot to buy weed screen at HD and won't be planting those for another couple weeks anyways.  My small greenhouse down the road doesn't open until May 1st.

Planted some basil and parsley seeds to see if I can get lucky and get those to grow.  Haven't sprouted yet.

For the garlic growers, I planted 5 or 6 cloves that got old and started to sprout back in early November.  Growing decent now.  Should they be ready mid summer for picking?  Tried to look up when to pick and what I saw was, when half the leaves are green and half are brown/dead and low, about the time you should pick....Sound good?

Way behind on my gardening. So busy with fishing. I did plant flowers for the wife on Sunday.
My tomatoes are ginormous in the house trying to keep them going.
Beds aren't near ready.
Only things I've gotten in the ground are basil, green beans and garlic.
Hopefully others are far ahead in their garden.

Farming is doing ok.. pigs are self contained, cow is in freezer and chickens on the way.

9 more days or less on the water .. whew I need a vacation
