Yesterday the talk show guys were saying the price tag for Justin Fields was a 4th round pick.  I wonder if they were in talks with Fields before they did this?  Get Fields for a 4th and have a 3rd and two 7th round picks left over, would be pretty interesting.  I'd have to think it would be a pretty enticing place to back up.  How long does Wilson realistically have of starter quality play left in him.  Whoever it is, likely is getting a shot at starting within 2-3 years.

My bad, I didn't realize Steelers giving up 4th round pick too.  He must have really peed on Rooney's cereal...  I thought they were getting the 3 and two 7s.  Not that his play really called for more than what they got, but they are now without a backup.

I thought last year's free agency was entertaining, this one is going to be hard to beat.

As soon as Pickett gets to play, (if ever) in Philly, I hope he rushes for a 100 and throws for 400 in every game. I'm not puttin' too much stock in Wilson, lookin' at his past two seasons stats, I can see why Denver had had enough. I mean, really, they're gonna spend $45 Million just to get rid of him. Hope Pickett fares well in Philly. I'm not impressed with the Steelers dealin' away 3 quarterbacks to get back what they got, but what do I know. I'm just a retired automotive technician. We'll see in late summer in pre-season.

Every game would be impressive!

I think he’ll do just fine if he gets another chance. KP has that it factor, why he did so well in 4th quarters. Survival mode and instincts take over. When not playing with that, he isn’t NFL caliber. Now that he isn’t a Steeler, I could give 2 chits if he does well. He’s a Philly guy, grew up in suburban Philly rooting for the Eagles, so any player that can play for their hometown team is always a good thing for them.

No doubt question marks on Wilson. But he is the QB for my team, so I am all in. At least for a few games! No doubt they need some others.

I liked KP despite his obvious flaws and I hope he figures it out and does well but the deck was stacked against him in the burg.
1. He was a reach at #20
2. His offensive line was truly offensive
3. Mediocre Mike and his no one can be smarter than me coaching staff HAVE never developed a quarterback, They never had to having BB but now that he’s retired you’re seeing the results.

I’m not sold on Wilson but at the moment he’s the QB

Not to rehash the discussion in question, but since it has come up , I will.
Joe knew fan suggested that we are raising our girls to be wh*r*s because I stated that a woman's right to choose is hers alone. If you have no uterus, then you get no opinion, full stop. If any of my 3 daughters would need to abort a pregnancy to save their lives, they should be able to do that. This is really stupid that this came up on a thread about football. Joe knew fan is a trash human. Anyone else that may have "read wrong", get your facts straight before commenting.

That post gained traction to the point a small reference and most could clearly know what you ment. So to say you didn’t mention it in any capacity, well you kinda did.

Running my mouth? I made like two posts in 5 years, been on the forum since 2007.

Facts straight? Gator brought it up, he questioned if I knew what he referenced. My black and white summary was good enough for him to understand I knew. My facts were close enough

This wasnt my senior thesis, it got the point across. Take a breath and chill.

Put your misplaced aggression to DG. He brought your family in on a football post.

In fact you even mentioned he made the statement first. Take it up with him

Kahn turned Chase Claypool and at absolute worst a 4th round pick into Justin Fields and JPJ.

That's nuts.

This is starting to look like the old board again. Soap opera with multiple story lines! For that, I’m going to throw March Madness talk into the NFL thread and hopefully throw another storyline into this goodness! NCST currently taking it to UNC. Houston, overall #1 seed, loses conf chap game by record amount. Purdue falls to an average WI team, AZ and ans others also fall (my bad thought UConn lost). Busting brackets before they are even available. Pitt will get the shaft for games early in the season. Whatever, they wouldn’t go far regardless. If they can keep Bub for next year, they will do damage. Talk is that he is a lottery pick, so likely gone.

I’ll throw a random “your momma” out there just in hopes to get things moving.

I told my son that when they traded him. This has to be the top backup position in the league. Wilson is beyond his prime. He can easily flame out this season. Unless he crushes it, do the Steelers really pay him what he is going to demand? With his age, he is an injury away from retirement.

That said, I wonder if they were already debating adding Fields regardless? KP is likely third string if the case. If so, then going to Philly to be #2 would be the right move. Hurts was struggling a bit at the end of the season. Not nearly enough to have his job threatened, but if next season starts like this one ended for Philly, who knows.

From the talk on local sports radio, Wilson will be here atleast for the 24-25 season. The only way they extend him, is if he plays lights out. The plan is to mentor Feilds and turn the reigns over for the following season. Who knows, maybe being with the Steelers will breathe new life into that 36 year old body and resurrect his career? I look for Pittsburgh to draft a QB sometime in the later rounds. Maybe a 4th or 5th rounder to be 3rd string/practice squad. Find a gem like San Fran did in Purdy? Feilds definitely underachieved in Chicago, compared to his pedigree. Let him marinate and maybe he can raise his level to the expectations the Bears had for him in '21?

It better all work for Wilson this coming season. Fortunately his Denver contract is the gift that keeps on giving. Even with a good season, if he and his agent think they're gonna go into contract negotiations with a "Gods' gift to quarterbacks" attitude, (considering he's already, what? 36 years old?), then they might have another think comin', with either of two pretty good ones waiting in the wings.

In Philly, KP may get his chance and find out he fits right in with the Eagles game plans. Remember, Hurt gets hurt now and again because he was the second leading rusher on the team with over 600yds. Philly lost 5 of their last 6 last season, and though Hurt had a lot of yards and TDs, he also had 15 ints. The Eagles seem to have at least a half dozen plays that specifically call for the QB to run, particularly on plays that read pass all the way but nobody is open. KP just may be OK with that. Running QBs do get hurt. Baltimore is another example. Jackson runs like a rabbit but he's been banged up and out more than a few times. There's all kinds of wheelin' & dealin' & tradin' goin' on and the draft hasn't even started.

Can be said of about 3/4 of first round QBs. Or you can say reach/bust/whatever. If they are your hopeful future QB, they are underachievers. If they underachieved for your team, then they are a bust. Remember Mitch Trubisky was a cant miss pedigree QB, but now a bust for multiple teams.

Hopefully he is really fine with sitting behind Wilson. Those guys are ultra competitive. He has been a star his whole life, that is what he knows. I can’t imagine in private he is all that fine not being a starter. Hopefully teams/media don’t leak how he is handling things in private or will have the same effect that it did for KP.

I wonder how long of leash Tomlin will give Wilson....me thinks there gonna wanna see Fields if they stumble out of the gates at 1-3 or 2-5...

Eagles also fired the OC....new sheriff in town, Kellen Moore. Eagles also signed Barkley....go back to the Moore offense in Dallas with Dak...will be similar in Philly, imo. The limited Dak runs and fed Zeke and Pollard. I would guess they will limit Hurts running. Eagles have a great WR corp to pass too. Will be interesting to see if the tush push is still effective without Kelce.

I’m with Ice on this. KP will likely be wearing a headset if it happens. Eagles still in a better position for SB run. At least right now. Draft and rest of FA will hopefully swing that a bit more in Stillers favor. But the simple fact they are in NFC alone puts odds in their favor. They won’t see KC or Baltimore in route to SB. SF is tough, but not KC or Ravens. Stillers are still in the toughest division, which reduces odds of upper playoff seed. Hard not to like the direction they are going though. If they were to make a SB run this year, it wouldn’t be as nearly as surprising if they made that run after first few games of last season. After preseason it looked like a possibility, but shows what preseason means.

These Stillers articles lately in cutting Wilson are just crazy. These “sports reporters” seem to write about anything. Of course if Fields significantly outplays him, why not cut him if he won’t be a backup? They are reporting as if it is happening already. Let them play and see what happens. Like this is helping the whole locker room dynamics of the team. Same thing they did with Mitch/Kenny/Mason the last two years. Let the guys battle it out and stop with the speculation bs. It is already hard enough to be a successful NFL qb on the field, why make it harder for them off of the field with this? I can see if playing like garbage. This whole planting the seeds of controversy are unreal. I know freedom of press, guys can write what they want, but if this is their local team, why do it?

At least one writer thinks that Wilson could be gone after training camp. Maybe he thinks by that time the Steelers will have gotten their $1.2 million out of him.
But like PSU said, "what if he stumbles out of the gate" and they're stickin' Fields in quickly, then they're gonna need another good #2. Maybe they could trade with the Titans! I heard Tennessee has a pretty good backup. LOL!!
