2022 spring gobbler

How is it going for everybody? I just got a tagged wrapped on a good one this morning. He was the 7th longbeard I have have had in bow range this season and was finally able to get a a good shot and an arrow into one. Not a heavy bird but honest 1.5 inch spur and 11 inch beard.

No doubt something is going on with our turkeys here and in other states. Even down here, I am seeing less and less hens every year. We still have pretty good turkey hunting but the trend is going the wrong way.

hit a trifecta today on fall turkey 3 birds one shot.
Waited for a double as the flock came in to a gathering call and as two heads lined up at around 20 yds-finally-a third stepped in at the trigger pull
 all 3 down and flapping immediately the rest took off--3 is the Ct limit

Fields are usually better in the rain unless you know exactly where they are roosted . Look for out of the way corners or fields that are not highly visible from the road. Turkeys tend to stay in more open areas in the rain and wind as it wreaks havoc on their hearing and ability to see movement.

Thanks for the tip. Think I know of the right spot. Hope my all weather box call doesn't fail me.
