I have a problem

During the winter months I enjoy sitting at the bench and tying up a few  patterns. Thing is, during this time of the year my hands are rough, chapped, etc. This year the problem seems to be worse. I attribute that to using so much hand sanitizer. I use various creams, lotions etc., but still have issues. The problem being, the material I am using to tie with gets stuck to my fingers. Very discouraging! I suppose this is also happening to others. And to add to the problem, the dry air adds static electricity into the air that only makes matter worse.

How did the person who invented the first clock know what time it was?

If possible try using petroleum jelly on your hands, rub it in and then put on lightweight gloves for a while. See if that helps.

Neosporin has worked well for me. Rub it in, let it soak fer 10 - 15 minutes then wipe it off.

I would think anything like a wet lotion will have any material stick to your hands. Maybe put less on and rub it in good or use some kinda gloves.

I went to my doctor about rough skin and small cuts all over the fingers.

1- prescribed a hand cream that works well, and keeps skin softer. Does not work so well with larger cuts.
2- prescribed a steroid cream. Works fast and great on the cuts and roughness. It doesn't smooth the skin. I use the 1st one after to get skin softer.

If it is painful, see a doctor to get a good cream.

I keep a container of O’Keefe’s with my fishing gear and one on my desk to use this time of the year. I have problems with my thumb areas splitting open from the cold water and weather.

The thumbs are the worst, but other parts on my hands also split open. I appreciate all the info.

As another poster  mentioned O'Keeffe's "Working Hands" Hand Cream is very good.  It won't soften those hands overnight but using it every for a week will really help.

O’Keeffe’s success story here too. Like ccadis noted, it takes a little while, but works. After it heals I have had luck just using a regular lotion or petroleum jelly. I also don’t go so gun ho on the washing either that I did in the spring. Your skin makes its own moisturizer that isn’t good to constantly remove. Same as your hair, why it is recommended to not wash your hair every day.

O'keefes hand cream is some of the best solution to cracked, dry, working mans hands! Hope this helps!
