Bass Pro bought Sportsmen’s Warehouse

Heard the rumor.

Did a search today and saw where the parent company of BPS did by Sportsmen’s in December.

So I guess Sportsmen’s is closing again, sort of.

No mention of specific stores staying open or closing.

The poster formally known as Duncsdad

Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.

Field and Stream in Cranberry closes today until August, then reopens as something else. Supposed to have more fishing stuff than F&S.

GOOD they got bought out !  I was at the one in Erie on Thursday. That store is terrible IMO .. No Plans to ever stop again unless I need over priced leaders .  String is 2 bucks more then bass pro senkos over 1 buck more then anywhere else . Fish USA out prices them any day it's an 7-11 of a sporting's good store .

Kind of sucks.  Now Bass Pro is becoming a monopoly of the hunting/fishing/boating buying opportunities in the US.  Other than occasional sale their prices are virtually never discounted.

I get E-mail and mailed ads from Bass Pro SHops. When going through their ads I find most things offered are all house brands of Bass Pro Shops. These are White River and Bass Pro. It looks to me like they are creating a giant monopoly on fishing equipment, from production through sales. I like to walk through their stores, but I usually buy from Fish USA when I actually need something.
