Sad to see it go...

Went fishing down at HPD on christmas day for a few hours. I guess they are finally fencing off the catwalk access at the dam. I spent most of my 34 years on earth fishing that spot and caught some of my most memorable fish there so im pretty bummed out about it. I know that wall was getting a little sketchy, but it would have been nice to see some sort of access created at one of the best spots on the city pool. Looks like we will have to battle the shore crowd down below all 2021 season...

Wow, I was just there a week before Christmas, didn't notice. I was down below though. You do any good Snag?

That used to be a KILLER smallmouth spot. It's been a while.

No luck that day. The water was a little high but the current breaks were pretty good. Winter fishing the rivers is still fairly new to me. There was a boat fishing the crows nest humps the other day that looked to be doing fairly good. Going to keep at it when I get the time and the weather is cooperating.

Still is a GREAT spot in the summer months for smallies in the shallows below the dam. Its amazing how they school up and seemingly appear out of nowhere. Had it happen a few times last summer...Tons of surface action out of nowhere followed buy 15 minutes of nonstop smallie action...then nothing. They just dissapear as quickly as they come haha...A lot like striper fishing up Lake Arthur... Such a blast...

I used to have a blast hammering on the white bass below the dam in the Spring. They were like piranhas if you got there on the right day.

Was down there earlier this month and they had a boat right up against the dam surveying the depth. Pretty sure they’re putting on the hydroplant this year which is gonna make a lot of people upset.
