Renzetti vise

Looking into getting one. Was wondering for all you renzetti fans is how great is the vise. The cam jaw says it can fit up to a 4/0 hook. Can you fit bigger hooks in there.

I would suggest a Regal vise...Either the "c" clamp model or the heavy base..Get the "big" jaws if you are tying with large hooks...Renzetti's customer service is lousy.

I've heard dyna king is the way to go for big hooks. I've got a peak rotary. I think I've put a 5/0 gamakatsu octopus hook in it, but those jaws were spread WIDE. The peak LIRS vise is made for big stuff and big stuff only.

I have been using a Regal pedestal vice for many years . Have two different heads to accommodate different hook sizes. Trouble free and easy to use. Highly recommended.

How did the person who invented the first clock know what time it was?

I use a renzetti traveler for trout and the regal for heavier hooks.

Just curious why would you have two vises the big game holds small hooks and big hooks. Same with the renzetti.

I like tying on the regal except in cases where I need to tie small and delicate down to #28's. Here, the true rotary function and narrow jaws of the renzetti are advantageous.

Have you considered tying flies that big on tubes instead? Tube adapters are cheap. I just use straws that come with aerosol spray cans. Fuel line for a weed wacker for junction tube. Works pretty well. https://www.fishusa.com/Terra-Tube-Fly-Tool-Kit

Never tried tube flies. I like my articulated ones. Looks interesting fishinguy but I still want a vice that can hold pretty much anything I want and seeing renzetti or regal can’t hold that big of a hook and it’s getting up there in price I’m probably just going to get a dyna king.

Do you have any tube flies you can share and send a pic of. Like to look at your creations.
