Unwise ritual
A couple of months ago The N. R. A. Magazine ( the American Hunter) ran a mag with a cover pict. of a beautiful young girl (11 yrs old I think) with a great buck that she killed this past season. Unfortunately, in my view, her father smeared some deer blood on her face in an old & I think potentially dangerous ritual. In this day when even the PGC recommends that you wear rubber gloves when you are gutting animals & with the known blood borne diseases, why would you take a chance of passing a disease on to anyone, let alone your child ? I wrote a letter to the editor of the mag. expressing my concern about this practice & they printed a reply in this month's mag which I think downplayed the useless danger of this practice. sam
