Shawnee lake and Greenlick Lake

i've read several newspaper articles and have no idea on the current situation for fishing and boating.  I know they are two different things, a state park and county recreation area, but are either currently open to shore fishing or boat launching.  The notice for the state parks said there is still access to the lake whatever that may mean.  The previous post about Twin Lakes has me wondering about Greenlick.  Any info would be appreciated before I decide to take my boat to either place.   Thanks.    Dave

davef, I was at Bridgeport & Greenlick to-day , no-one at Bridgeport,I think it is because it is a westm'd cnty park at the boat launch side & the gate is prob. locked . Greenlick gate was open, prob. because it is in Fayette cnty. There were no boats when we came through, but there were a couple of people fishing & a few people having a picnic. I guess you could launch your boat there but you could call Fayette cnty court house to see if they changed their policy.  sam

Thank you Sam.  I had no idea Bridgeport and Greenlick were in different counties.  Which of those two lakes do you consider to be best for Crappies.  I haven't fished Greenlick from a boat for about 10 years, I was catching quite a few crappies but none over about 9 inches.  Have never fished Bridgeport but have driven down to look around it from both sides.

I drove past Shawnee today and there were at least 2 boats out and a couple of guys fishing from shore so apparently you can still fish at least.

Dave
Yes, you can still fish but all the restroom facilities are locked and the campground is shutdown until further notice.  Boat launches are open.  The offices are also closed.  I did see the ranger cruising around.  First time ever in 50 years that I did not see a DCNR pickup truck driving around the lake.

I fished but did not catch a single fish.   Rained heavy the night before and dam was murky.

The only thing better than 1 day of fishing is 2 days of fishing.

I think I saw an article that Westmoreland Co. parks opened back up but all facilities will be locked so....as others said, trees and leaves for the restroom...
