Poaching?

I watched a guy fishing at North Park take home at least 5 trout on Christmas day. I guess one can do this: https://www.pgc.pa.gov/HuntTrap/Law/Pages/OperationGameThief.aspx

Anybody ever do it and have a positive result? Or just foggettaboutit?

My thought is to say, "dude, you can't keep 5 trout now, are you aware of that?"
If it bothered you, you should have opened your mouth. Unless the only way for you is a keyboard. Which is fine, I guess

Some guys know, some don't, some are just hogs. But you should have said something. That local fish guy ain't coming out on Christmas day for that. If there was a guy with a cast net, well that's different.

If the guy says "mind your own business", well get his plate number while he watches you do that.

Concealed carry permits are nice, too. Open carry is legal, which instantly solves issues as well. Ain't too many genuine dirt bags out there will mess with you on a lake or stream with a weapon strapped to you in plain view. But a carry permit allows you to drive the weapon with you in a vehicle. Open carry, no permit, no car. Walk to and fro

And don't post back sissy sarcastic sh*t, I'm being serious.

Well first of all, that link is for the Game Commission and not the Fish Commission.  So there would be no positive result to that.

Exactly like Meatball said, sometimes it's just ignorance of the law and not malicious.  If it doesn't look like a situation that could potentially escalate, sometimes just saying, "Hey, I'm not out to ruin your day but did you know __________"

I've done that several times over the years, and usually the person thanks me because they truly didn't know they were breaking the law.  Never had anybody get hostile or want to argue.

If you have a smart phone, it only takes a minute to find the numbers for the various region offices for the Fish Commission.

I've called twice in Erie for blatant snagging.  Once the WCO arrived while I was there.  The other time, I was leaving anyway and called with a description of the people and their vehicle.  Got a call back a few hours later from him to thank me.

No problem.

Here’s the number to call for the Southwest region law enforcement: (814) 445-8974

And numbers for other regions should you need them. https://www.fishandboat.c...ersOfficeListings.aspx

Cool PT, nailed some really nice smallies in Chartiers Creek yesterday, biggest 17.5". Prob biggest I've caught there. And I didn't shoot anyone either. Neither did the manly cop I passed with a gun strapped to his side on the way home.

Meatball, the best reason I saw for CCW is a poster in a gun/reloading store in Mercer PA.

The poster simply reads; THE REASON I CARRY A GUN IS BECAUSE A COP IS TOO HEAVY.

In other news.... gunman in Texas shoots two in a church before being shot dead by a parishioner.

Maybe if the PFBC had more law enforcement in the field. private citizens would need not be doing the job of the PFBC.

Younz only fooling yourselves if ya think a PFBC biologist is gonna come out, from under their desk, to investigate wrong doing.

Pretty smart to stay away from someone who is breaking the fish/game law (if one cannot "effectively" defend ones self(by any means))

One may end in a situation where one becomes a victim, of law breaking, themselves.

Younz see what, I'm sayin here???

HAPPY NEW YEAR and Tight Lines.

Happy New Year BTDT! If a person is fishing past October, pretty sure it's good people from my experience. PFBC has a limited budget, I can't imagine the paperwork they have to file for every infraction. No wonder they are stuck to their desk half the time they are on duty. Add in dam repairs, muskie guys complaining, walleye guys complaining, stocked TROUT guys always complaining, sheesh.

I hear ya Meatball, but I ain't never seen someone from the PGBC, dressed in them yellow rubber suits, doing anything but ridin around on their pontoon boat.

Maybe just too difficult writing citations/warnings while generating reports, trying to keep everybody happy.

I dunno....

Tight lines and good times.

Ooops...... sorry, 🙈 back to poaching.

The Legislature here will get busy adopting knife control laws as soon as they finish disarming or evicting all gun owners and conservatives, in the name of the "tolerant" state.  Burger King and McDonalds are all in favor, the Beef Steak and Tenderloin people not so much!  I figure that at the rate they are taxing me more every year, I'd be down to barley gruel eventually, with no knives, it will just be sooner!

On a brighter  side I saw a first yesterday.  A Game Warden in uniform,  driving a commission  truck stopped and loaded a 2 week old road kill deer. I just stood there in total amazement.

So can I but my wife, could not. As well as other good people who can not run from "any" sort of attack.

To say the least, I dooooo like the odds in my favor. 👍

You run and call the police I'll run an try to control the situation, until the police arrive.

England has gun laws but lucky only three people were stabbed in London today.

Just some terrorist wearing a "hoax" explosive vest recently released from jail.

Thankfully the police were able to respond quickly and kill the pryk..... with a gun.

I like the odds on my side, not having to wait on police.

The discussion at lunch between coworkers turned to security because one coworker was approached in a parking lot by potential ne’er do well that hassled her the whole way to the office building. While it really had nothing to do with that particular situation, coworkers started asking what type of security systems each had.

Some answered ADT. Others said Simpli Safe. Still others revealed Ring.

I had said nothing. Of course, they had to ask. My answer was Glock. Some got that “what did you just say” look, while one asked, “ Do you really have a Glock?”

My answer was, “no.” This seemed to ease a few of them. Until I added, “Actually, I have two — a 9 mm and a .45.”

Their look returned, but I assured them that the Glocks weren’t really for home security. They got calm again. “That’s what the Mossberg 500 is for.”

The poster formally known as Duncsdad

Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.
