Used to be huge Salmon hotels on some rivers and inland lakes in Nova Scotia but when they stopped the Seal harvests they multiplied and began feeding heavily at the mouths of many rivers there during the runs those places went under.
Yes- they only eat one or so a day but they play and bite many -which die. Runs of yesteryear and only a memory.
Seals aplenty easily seen on river mouths.
I fished mainly around the North Sydney area as well as the Bras 'dor lake area.
Yea Fichy- those sea run brookies were a blast and seemed not affected by the seals.
The keep was 10 a day but ya could c/r wayyyy more.
Loved going way back and fishing the Beaver dams and lilly ponds too-Brookies everywhere up there.
Watched a Bald Eagle drop to the water only 10 yards from me and grab one.
