Cool find?
I put this here thinking I might get some more answers. Anyway, while picking rocks out of a creek for a home project I came across this one. Struck me as kind of odd that it had 2 almost perfect bands around it about 3/4" wide. Thinking it may be some kid of old hammer head, but I'm not really a relic hunter. Anyone out there have some insight? Cool old find, or just another rock?

Petrified croquet ball... Bocce. Possibly a decorative railing-post topper. Cool find, be interesting to know it's origin.

Bad voodoo rock. Best advise would be, take it back to where you found it, and throw back over your left shoulder. Would not hurt to take a chicken along, and swing it over your head three times, before you leave.

Look at a geology book and read about formation of Sedimentary rocks (Sansdstones, shales, etc.), then look at the local bedrock on a gorge wall (sandstones, shales etc.) After that, swing the chicken all you want!

Definitly a cool site roy. I've been sucked into it for an hour or so a few times since you posted it. Thanks!
