Allegheny River shore convention center north?

Anyone ever fish the stretch of the Allegheny from shore (downtown side) from the convention center north?  My office just moved from West Mifflin to the strip district.  Did a quick river trail scout and access is tough due to the shoreline but there are a few spots I could cast a line at lunch.   Anyone ever have any success here?  Does seem to be some current breaks/structures within casting distance that would hold some fish.....

if there are a ton of rocks, then there should be a lot of smallies and walleye.

I may pack a small lunch cooler with some ice and crawlers and toss some jigs and worms when I get the chance.  Seems to be several old barge tie off pilings up near the 15th st. bridge that may hold some fishies....lots of large gables shooting off from shore out into the deep....snagfest.  Will need to figure out the best approach for that.....

A jig floated/worked under a bobber might draw some bites and keep you out of snagfest.

Fish seem to like Gulp products.  Would keep you from accidentally leaving that cooler of crawlers in your car, beyond your ice melting time limit...

Big floating perch-colored Rapala. If a bass doesn’t get you, a musky might.

    Yeah, that would "stink!"

Would have to leave it on the front seat of the car just to remind me it's in there.  Fortunately, I can park in the shade under the 579 bridge.  Was thinking a slip bobber approach with live bait might work.  Could use a larger circle hook with some weight instead of a jig as those are a little less prone to snagging....

I fish the North Shore side all the time.  One of my most productive is actually just outside PNC Park, around River Rescue.  3-1/2 lb. smallie being the biggest, there, during a Pirate game.  I've hooked into a few muskies, too.  Only landed 1, measured 3 inches.  There are a few more spots, a little further upstream, some right across the river from the convention center.
I haven't fished down there much this year, between the rains and me kayak fishing on the lakes, but am actually thinking of going down, tonight or tomorrow morning.  I seem to hold a certain fondness for this area.

River looking like poo again after all these rains.  I did try the shore one day a few weeks ago.  Was pretty stained and moving at a good clop so used a 1/4 oz head and 2 casts, 3 snags/break offs so I called it a lunch.

Now, with this next stretch of rain free, dry weather, the river will get real nice but I'll be at the beach at Hilton Head so I won't be caring too much about it.  Have a 1/2 day inshore charter already booked for next Monday.  Redfish, seatrout and a few sharks beats any river fishing by a country mile!  Hoping the kids get some good pulls like they did the last time we were down there...
