Catfish Noodling

Hey Guys,

New to the forum. I just moved up here from Virginia. Down there we did a lot of catfish noodling. I've been asking people at the local fishing areas to see if they knew anywhere good to go noodling but have struck out so far. Was hoping if anyone here could point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

Luke

I thought hand fishing (noodling) was illegal in PA?

Googling it, it seems to only have became legal in WV last year.

Not sure your'e going to find many guys doing it around these parts.

I don't think it's legal, but there really isn't a good place to noodle for flatheads considering they are mainly in our rivers. That being said, the fish commission stocked them at Peters Lake to help control the shad population, the only time I am aware that they did something like that. But you can't swim there.

That's a special kind of crazy. I would have done that in my younger days, not now, one turtle hole with a snapper facing the wrong way and good bye fingers lol.

Illegal in PA as far as I know. And I certainly wouldn't eat a big one out of the rivers. A big Flathead is on old fish. Loaded with heavy metals and other toxins. Great fun as a sport fish though.

Interesting that the commish never put them on the list of eating advisories like channel cats. But you are correct, an old fish can't be that good for you [Lake trout]...then again, neither is 2 packs a day and enough beer a year to supply a cruise ship

This was the result of a guy noodling on Lake Moultrie when I lived in SC.  He was reaching in under a gator nest.

uhhh... Meatbal, back in the 70's I worked in Meadville at the FMC plant.  Dude was eating jerky when he noticed a tooth from his partial was missing.  Tooth was back in place when he came into work the next day.  Jus'Sayin.

Meh, no biggie, ups the body defenses is all. I pull turds out of sewers laughing and pointing at the corn and gross people out who are watching, then immediately put a pinch of snuff in. After wiping my fingers on my pants first of course.
