Snag Fest starting soon !

Won't be long for the Pymy Linesville snag fest to start at the Spillway . Sharpen up your Sonars , Cicadas , and Blade baits .....I know they hit them on the drop not the lift ......yea sure! That's why they are hooked under the lip or gill plate ...or belly ....lol   I'd like to see the PBFC allow only single hooks in that area , then I'd believe the lifters . Biggest fishing joke in Pa. and yet they allow it year after year . Another reason I have little respect for the PBFC to allow that reefing and lifting every season. I've never fished it, but I'd wear eye protection with all that yanking and raking going on with those trebles.......lol

Ain't that the truth..... but Capt. if the "circus on the wall" was shut down, were would the PFBC go to get their violation quota for the coming year?

I mean catching by any other means, is still catching. Just much easier if it's done at the same time and in the same place.

Kind a like a violations honey hole.... ooops, silly me I forgot, no spot burning.😜

    Likely no citations either...... πŸ˜’

Was some open water there when I drove past last week. No one fishing though. Was thinking 'bout trying 'round that general area for slabs next time up. More than likely hit another promising lookin' area instead though.

Have 2 boats & couple Radison canoes at camp not far from there but wanna get my sons new 1957 Crestliner & a Starcraft up next month. Love the old classic boats to fish from.

A couple yrs. ago Spoonchucker stopped by & I had a tackle box of Sonars that I inherited from a old man that passed away. Sponnie noticed them & said they work really well & talked about them for awhile. Never tried 'em. Should try & locate that box of Sonars  Maybe tip with a crawler or somethin'?

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I think that boat may be two days older than me.

Find them sonar's and paint em hot pink and yellow. Next, get a limit of walleyes and string em on a yellow rope in plain sight of folks at the wall. Tell everyone ya caught the fish on a pink and yellow sonar. Open your tackle box and name your price.πŸ‘

Sounds like a plan!! Gotta start selling this crap off! I cleaned the pool table off last week & said to my brother wonder how long this will last? Dang son had it covered with tackle/rain gear/sonar units/scents + 2 couches covered & a bundle ov 28 rod & reel combos leaning against my Whitetail mount with-in 3 days he just bought. Now he said he is gonna buy 60 rod & reel combos from the same Bass Pro since the guy is getting a new sponsor!!! Forgot the 15 stainless boat props on the floor

Hell, just hang that stringer of fish off a boat having a pink and yellow prop on the motor. Anglers be buying them other props like hot cakes, even if they dont fit the motor on their boat.

But wait, buy two props and get a free sonar. Just pay a separate fee and shipping is always 'not' free.

That's an real oldie number ! Boat looks very well kept or refinished.

I know blade baits work well in most vertical jigging patterns ice , boats, especially in the colder conditions, but what goes on there is total abuse . I'd hate to see what goes on in the late hours of darkness along that shore. Making that area a single hook only area would allow those Walleye a fair chance at survival and still allow fish to be caught. Even if it was single hooks for several months that would still be fair deal for all.

My favorite is in the spring, usually in late April through May,  dudes will anchor boat right under the 285 causeway and violently jig sonars with a rod in each hand.

For a sideshow to the circus, check out the underpass of the causeway on the PA side.

Caution if passing through. Them clear fishing lines is hard to see, dangling from above. Plus, them guys don't yell "look out below" before opening their bail and dropping heavy sonar's to the depths below.

That don't include the attitudes from boat anglers having to move, cause you might like to pass through.

Amazing how some things never change and other regulations change every year.

They enforce tighter regs. on Crappie sizes and limits but they allow Walleye to be raked out by the buckets for a month or more ! ....lol

Hey crappy, what on earth were you doing in my old neighborhood of east end Canonsburg? I grew up a block from there. I'm suprised that car wash still works, I vandalized it repeatedly lmao. Neat old boat.

I always wanted to see the snagfest capt, I heard lots about it.

Meatball it's first come first served. A miniature version of the "Congo line" at Walnut, if ya would. The real treat is seeing the circus from a boat. The clowns look like they're standing on each others shoulders. Even better, being out on the lake when some moron screams "it's another monster".. every time a fish is snagged errr hooked.

Re: Snag Fest starting soon ! 2019/02/16 00:40:33 (permalink)
All the years I fished I never went near the place till about 3 years ago . Stopped to just watch during mid day I just wanted to see it for myself. I had no gear just wondering around Linesville to say hello to the Higgins taxidermy brothers Chip and Mark. ( excellent work especially fish ).

Anyway I watched about 15-20 guys fishing, most using fluorescent colored Sonars and almost all trying to squeeze near the wire flow area. That's the sweet zone the walleyes stack in....kind of funny looking at all those rods jigging up and down constantly especially the super long ones.  I watched two walleyes hooked under the gill plate bouncing on the rocks and both went into the coolers ! Of course they looked both ways before chucking them in.  Also seen a few fast net jobs ....you know the kind that they net the fish fast and keep it at a low profile ....lol  It's a snag fest plain and simple .....any good fishermen can see that a mile away ....I just shook my head and walked away . They can have it !

Like I said before I'd like to see what goes on about 3am there...but the PFBC allows it year after year ....it's almost a tradition now. I've heard rumors over the years from fairly good sources that some guys will take 30-50 walleye in a few nights there. No mater how good they patrol it these guys with their cell phones know when the man is around or not. No way can the wardens patrol 24/7 there.

Hey jigs, my old man owned that lot and had kemp evicted cause the crook never paid rent. And if you remember, the high pressure wands had no triggers, quarter in and it came on. If you dropped in a quarter and walked away the hose would whip around at warp speed and bust out the lights...every time....always worth 25 cents. I didn't like the old greek prick that owned it. I made his life even more miserable on a regular basis.

Only good greek food I can think of capt is the greek orthodox church festival in June.

Least last yr. they put buoy markers in so the boats can't to close. Guess the shore guys were getting into it with the boaters  smh Watched 'em a couple times just to get out ov the house. Those guys get into it even make planks to stand on that fit in the rocks or somethin' like that. Once the carp show up it's the bow guys turn.

Dan, us Yankees head south if a boat is for sale. 3rd dang boat my sons bought in 4 months. Couple back trollers  son said he had to have for tournaments, WTF??? Yard looks like crap. Dang just brought 47 rod/reel combos from his brothers room upstairs, he couldn't get in the dressers/chests. Now he called & said he is bringing over 100 lbs. ov plastics/frogs & so forth plus a pile ov Lucky Strikes more combos, nets & forget what else he just bought. Just cleaned off the pool table & some goofy liquid crap leaked on the custom cover & bubbled it somewhat.  He don't even live here!!

Least I wised up today when son tried to unload his crap here. Only let him bring 3 loads in & said the rest is not coming here. He tried pulling one over on me saying these plugs go for $25 up over $100 each like Repo Man. Told him looks like regular Bass plugs to me & fishermen can't be that stupid to spend that kind ov money on a darn Bass plug!!

Capt. I think you might be right and it looks serious too.

Crappie, I've had my share of wiring, drywallin, muddin, and all that other stuff that goes with owning a nice home.

This past summer my wife and I looked and looked aaaaand looked again, at homes for sale and I walked right out of every one that needed any type of work. Some real dumps for sale at unbelievable prices (stupid realtors).

So we said screw it and now will be turning to searching for land. (half to 1 acre) where I shall point to a spot and tell a builder... build. Whereas my tired old asz will sit in my "mancave on wheels" and watch. Alllllthough, should the right home come up for sale at the right price.... sold!!!

Then, I may be in the market for more fishing gear, of which I do not need, but what the hell. Maybe I can load it up in the fall and have a yard sale on the beach.

Meanwhile I enjoyed some fond memories at dinner tonight. Nothing like Penn's Woods Crappie.

Hope you find a place. Was at Home Depot couple days ago & materials went way up since Autumn. Glad for Market Place & CL. I like doing the work, that way nobodies fault but mine. What gets me is I went on a Salmon Trip a while back & when I was gone the ole lady had a closet built where I wanted to put the laundry room, next to a bathroom. So just double work ripping it all out. Wish I was younger with the tools they have out now to work with. So much easier/faster today.

I just got done doing a google search on some ov the lures he brought back today & fishermen must be one ov the stupidest
people out there if they pay well over a hundred bucks for bass plugs. He sent me 'bout 8 more photos ov crap. Think the lead melting is getting to his brain or somethin'??

     Good Luck & Have Fun!

I've seen prices of some lures in magazines ..crazy ! ....I personally would never spend over 10 bucks for a lure. I can't imagine tossing out a 25 dollar plug and snagging it up. ...time to go swimming ....lol
Besides that I've caught too many nice fish on the basic all round stick baits and spinners ....and good old crawler & minnows !!!!  After awhile we all end up with so much gear you never use about 60% of it....but I guess you got it just in case.....lol

Older home or new build, regardless, there will be hand tools from hammers to drywall along with power tools, from saws to nailers, for framing to finish. Also electricians to plumbers but there won't be no masonry or roofing tools. Playing with shingles and concrete is way tooo much work.

Good luck with your renovations, no better feeling when stepping back and seeing your accomplishments.

Ummmm, except when you find out, you have one more tackle box than your buddy.

Take care and don't hit your thumb.πŸ‘
