Orange

This oughta start a fight   lol
  I HATE Hunter Orange-I personally believe Deer can see it.
I know , I know- studies show they cant. Oh well, studies all too often get the results ya want.
 
Think  about this- how often have ya sat someplace and seen orange moving through the woods or even on a very far off hillside ??
OK movement spooks Deer too, but only if they see it.
My opinion is that as deer don't see color but various shades of grey and as Hunter Orange is ' light gathering' -how is it that it doesnt look like the brightest thing in the woods to Deer- therefore identifiable to them.
 
In many states today is isn't just orange that has to be worn but the brightest stuff ya can get-by law- and unbroken, as in no orange mixed with a camo pattern. In my state its a minimum of 400 square inches visible from all directions.
That aint no hat folks that a LOT of bright shiny orange.
 
IMHO even sitting quite still you 'shine' while wearing it because of its intended light gathering design.
I know guys who rub it on red oak tree bark and never wash it trying to limit the 'shine'- likely a way to get pinched.

Simple test. Three people, one dressed in full orange, one dressed in orange camo and the third dressed in street clothing. All standing together and same distance from camera.

Using black and white photo imaging, Take pictures under various light conditions and/or times of day.

I find dusk and dawn to be the most interesting for hunter (fluorescent) orange.

Of course in black and white you wont see orange but you sure will stand out in the wilderness, at those times of day.



You be the judge.

Orange rule should only be in effect for public lands, if on ones own private property we should get to wear whatever.

We have 864 acres private property atop an 1,800 foot mountain where thousands of acres surround to the bottom. We never hear shots while hunting but have found people "lost " wandering around now and then. It's those people I want to " see " me coming to point them in another direction.
Don't get me wrong, if I see 1 person in 3 years, it's a lot but I'm not taking chances when people have a rifle in their hands.

Thankfully, my laws are pretty lax in the orange, at least I think but not sure.
Let's say I was hunting a new property or public management area. Absolutely I will wear an orange vest AND hat while walking through the woods. Once settled, it's easy to take off

I can't understand why putting a butt bag on the horse, requiring a fishing license and hunting license, and requiring that limits be observed are violations of religious freedom!  And for a frugal people, they sure leave a lot of useful fertilizer along the roads around P-Town!! 

My last 2 cents.
If its public land , I'm not against and probably more pro towards mandatory pumpkin suits.
If its private property, well then it's your privacy to do as you choose.
