South Carolina hog

Spent 3 days in SC chasing free ranging wild hogs. It was tough in the July heat but did manage to get an arrow through a nice #140 sow that came into my shooting lane at 9am. Pretty cool experience hunting these beasts in the swamps of the low country.

Now that's a hog. Nice Gene, congratulations.  Well placed shot, whens the bacon and sausage to arrive?   Oh yeah, the ribs too?

Not yet but soon! When we were cutting it up I was surprised that the meat looked like pork at the supermarket. I was expecting it to be a little darker. The guide said the big male hogs will get much darker meat that isn't as good.

I did bring the ribs back. Planning on braising them then throwing them on the grill to char them up a bit.

Yummy.... I'm planning a trip to Connellsville to check out a trailer. I could leave a day early.😋
