Looking at a new vest for the kayak. Do the fish commies recognize this as a PFDs before I buy. Tired of lugging the other ones and these would be more comfortable to wear anyhow https://www.walmart.com/i...&wl13=&veh=sem

Be careful in the cold. The co2 will not expand to the same volume in cold situations as it would in mild weather.
I was told by a wco they were not acceptable as I was coming off the lake from duck hunting.

It's fine but shouldn't be used when temp is below freezing. It's fine most of the year. "So if you are going to be out on a boat when the air temperature is below freezing (32 degrees F), then you should wear an inherently buoyant foam-filled life jacket that is U.S. Coast Guard approved." https://www.fishandboat.c...ages/mandatorypfd.aspxIt's down at the bottom of the page.

More reading with regard to Big Steve's "heads-up". Also, check the label(s) for advisories or you may not have a leg to stand on when the 'Boat Police' ask "Bad Boy, Bad Boy whatcha gonna do now they come for you" http://www.kayak-anglers....kets-and-cold-weather.

Inflatables are only accepted and approved as an acceptable means of flotation if worn by the person(s). I didn't know that until the coast guard made me aware. I have more than enough life vest for the people who come out with me, but I had my inflatable sitting on the back of my seat and the coast guard guy said "I am going to teach you something today".....I thought "oh...sh**". He explained that if you read the tag, it only counts as an acceptable PFD if worn. I had an 8 pack of PFD's on board, and 4 or 5 ski vest.....but I always thought the mere presents of the inflatable was acceptable. I am sure you all know that, but I found it to be interesting.
