we were on the lake april 24 - focused on perch and crappie - 8 keeper perch to 12 inches and 9 crappie to 12 inches.  two nice largemouth bass, 4 pike/pickerel (sometimes hard to tell) and some actually nice sized bluegills - typically bluegills are small here - at least 5 of the ones we caught were true slabs.  we had much better luck on the south side.  very clean water - a wonderful lake.

really not too hard to tell apart at all...  i do wish the state would post imagines of the two species at boat ramps where both are present. especially on lakes where pickerel are invasive...

and indeed a wonderful lake.

Went out from 6am-noon looking for some pike, only saw one. Caught a few small bass, and seen some really nice size bass. Was a really slow day, couldnt get anything on my chubs. Probably everything out really deep now. Still nice to get up there. Weeds aren't out of control yet, they're about a foot or two under the surface in most spots, so its a good time to get out. I saw bucket loads of pan fish and some giant blue gills.

Were they in the shallower water?

Was there Sunday. Windy as heck. Weeds are not bad at all. Actually less then I thought they were going to be. Sparse in some places perfect in some spots. Caught some nice bass and Pickerel. Wind chased me off by noon.

smart move.  id rather pay the fine if caught than get trapped down by the dam at dusk.  cant imagine a WCO writing a fine for that, but again, theyre a different breed.

Got out there for the morning yesterday. 7-12.
73 degree water
found several open spots-- open in the weeds.
12-15 boaters there also.
4 strikes on shiners on the bottom.
NOTHING to brag about except....I WAS NOT AT WORK !!!!

we were ice fishing. down towards the dam.  early march, dusk.  as we were walking up the big hill in deep snow, we could see someone creeping around the truck.  we yelled up that we saw him and for him to ID himself.  he just kept creeping around.  as we got closer we announced that we had a pistol (didn't really) and needed to know who he was.  finally when we were like 20 yards away, he yelled back that he was a WCO and also had a gun.  we told him that we didnt have a gun, that we were concerned with someone creeping around our vehicle.  then proceeded to check all our gear, gave me **** cause my license was in my bag and not displayed and told us to be safe.  F off dude.  its WCOs like that who give the others a bad name.
