That umbrella net is for minnows... The fine mesh will not allow to maneuver easily, and likely too flimsy for landing anything large. He's looking for something to help land larger fish. Check with some fishing piers along the coast. Most have web sites/tackle shops. Avon Pier, Rodanthe Pier, Bogue Inlet Pier, Red Drum Bait and Tackle, Frank and Frans Bait and Tackle, and Frisco Rod and Gun are a few that I'd check with. I actually made one too. Used electrical conduit and a pipe bender. Then slid a replacement net on it and tide rope to it. Tie in three equal lengths of rope to it, to a running line. I used a conduit inline connector to finish it. Pretty easy project. It worked well, but used in salt and got rusted out... Would work fine for freshwater only. Not as nice as the real ones, but likely 1/2 the cost.

WHAT noooo comment about the other "FOUR" sights I posted, Einstein?   I don't believe there was mention of size of fish being caught and I'm sure the 'umbrella' nets being lowered from the causeway at Espyville are not catching minnows.

Do tell us again genius, how you built a net frame from galvanized steel tubing or was that non-metallic PVC conduit you bent with a pipe bender then used in salt water????  Super good deal too, only half the cost, and it didn't last.

I have one brand new. I’ve been thinking about getting rid of it. I’ll PM you. It is a pier net / Hoop net. You’ll pay a fortune shipping from a vendor. I live in Greensburg.

Galvanized steel.  Lasted about 3-4 years of use off of the river dams & piers and a few times to Presque Isle.  Made it when I was maybe 14.  The conduit was scrap from a job site and bought the spare net at the flea market.  Used an old inline connector from my dad's parts bin.  Entire project cost me less than $5, probably $10 if I bought the materials.  The galvanized steel actually held up to the limited salt use, not recommended, but didn't feel like buying another that I barely used.  I went away to college and it pretty much saw no use, so I scrapped it.  I would assume the PVC would float, and not be very good for the application.

I have seen similar homemade nets on the piers when I lived in TX.   They did the job on the big redfish and jetty tuna!

Got to admit that I stole the idea from someone else's that I saw.  The one that I modeled mine from, used duct tape to close the ends...  Probably kept the water out of the inside better than mine.  Mine did land some nice catfish from the Mon.  The net was definitely the weak point on it, frame could have handled something 50lbs or more.  Most of the time, just another thing that I carried with me in hopes of catching something big.  I don't think that I ever caught a fish from the Presque Isle piers, that have ever needed a landing net.  I have seen some that could use a net, and guys dangling over, reaching as far as they could, almost falling in...  Would say the same for most fish from salt water piers too.  Would have loved to have one this past year when a 2' Spanish mackerel sliced me off, about 10' up the elevator ride.  Got my brand new Gotcha plug to.  I was pretty furious about that one.  It helped me land a flounder from the pier near Duck.  It wasn't big enough to really need one, but was glad that I had it.  Nice size flounder, for me at least.  By far the biggest that I have ever caught.  My dad and I didn't do very well on the filleting of that thing.
