Chrome!
Word on the book of faces is the chrome is starting to appear at the mouth of walnut in the early morning and they're staging on the first trench.
I think I can see the Russians lining up from here. Let the games begin! 🤣

Excellent, tying flies, and got my blue powerbait, rope, and 8/0 weighted trebles ready. Planning to be up the last weekend in September. Oh, and way to go, nice spot burn. You probably just put 50 mupheres on that spot, it's probably gonna be shoulder to shoulder both sides of the stream this Saturday

And should also spawn the first yinzer/muphere post of the year complaining about boats running over fishing lines at the Wall o Nuts.

I remember from many years ago, board member Egg Sac would usually be one of the first to post a steelie caught in August from a west side stream. Lol!

I've been hearing reports that they're stacked up pretty heavy in the first trench. Guess I'll find out tomorrow, going to head west from PI and pull spoons all day in 20-70 FOW. Hopefully we can find one of those elusive Erie Brown Trout too :).

Thanks man! I hooked into three last year on the tribs (and of course lost all three, lol) plus saw several more in Walnut and Trout Run. They're in there, just a matter of luck!

My first year up I hooked into a monster on Elk at the legion, that one by my guesstimate was somewhere in 36" range but I lost it. I've caught two that never came close in my 15 seasons I've fished the tribs.

Yea, Egg Sac, I remember him posting. If memory serves me correctly, he took a lot of flak over various issues. Wonder what ever happened to him?

That 36 incher, was prolly more like a 28-30" NYS state record Brown came out of Lake Ontario, and is only 38 inches. Ohio's Brown Trout record is only 27 1/4 inches out of Lake Erie. Lake Ontario is a far better trout fishery than Erie.

Good old EGGSNAG.. I think his over the top rant about chumming was about his last post here.. Old Dog, I still have the rod, reel and tackle box you passed on to me at the Oil Creek outing.

This brings to mind another thought, has anybody had success in catching or seeing anyone catch fish over 5lb regularly? My brother took his first last year that went 5.2, the only one we saw all season. I've been catching 3-4lb averages myself the last couple of years but I remember when I first started going up catching them in the 6lb range on the average and tail hooking more over 5lb than I could count. I fished a lot of mini foos at the circus and was young and dumb then. It was nothing to see a guy land one that went over 6lb. I'm guessing it has a lot to do with the reduction in numbers as well.
