I've had no time in past 2 weeks for my garden because focusing on fun stuff.
Haven't even had a working phone at times.
After spending 8 nights sleeping on the water, it's catch up.

Rich and Andy - fishing gurus

My boat has been at dock in the marina for 18 days. We've put a lot of time in this season as the weather and fish have played nice enough to keep us going. Spent a total of 9 nights on the boat. Every trip with rods in the water except 1 have put fish on the deck. In that time somewhere around 25 or so.
We kept 5 legal fish total and everyone released was a healthy swimmer.
The are an unusually large number of very large fish. I mean many, many well over 40"
I've seen very few floaters from others and they are also catching.
Can the stripers sustain this type of fishing?

On the flip side, herring population is way down

great striper fishing Rich -looks like they are rebounding nicely in your home waters.
First spring Steel I have missed in a lot of years- next year will be a real treat-thanks doctor.

It sounds like your season went well. Those are the little perks of life that make it sweeter.

Mulberries starting to pop around here.  Took the dog for a walk and enough ripe ones to pick a handful for personal consumption.  This next week, should be plenty for a good picking for freezing or baking with (can you say cobbler!).

dog ate a golf ball this Am various methods at the vets cant get it out- $7,000  surgery is the only option.

Ouch! Hope he heals up quickly!  We went through it with an 8 month old female over the winter, bowel obstruction for unknown cause, Doc did surgery, found a bunch of unidentifiable matter that she cleared. Hard to say what she got into but hasn't had trouble since. We were lucky, it only cost a total of about $1,350.  (xrays, barium swallow, surgery and post op meds, 1 night at vets)

Our annual clam jam in Rhode island is going great. The weather has been stellar and during the week, the campgrounds is quiet.
Clams have been coming super easy. I am getting my limits in less than an hour.
My son and grandkids came out yesterday and we hauled about 150 clams in 2hrs just messing around.

For the fishers, there has been really good fishing in the bay and breachway early and late for stripers, fluke and sea bass.

Lobsters continue to rise in price as expected but man, they are so worth it.
Current price at the dock is $12. $14 & $16.
We got 6 1.50lb at $14.00.
When we first came here years ago it was $4.00 , $6.00 & $8.00.
Obviously those days are well past.

Hopefully with the heat wave coming, my chickens survive until we get back on Saturday with a butcher date of Monday.
