Pittsburgh Anglers

Just out of curiousity, who else on here regularly fishes around Pittsburgh and its suburbs? Three rivers, creeks, lakes, ponds, etc..

I'm somewhere on the river or local lake every Friday or Saturday depending on weather.  Fish the Ohio a lot because it's the closest.  My buddy caught this cat 1.5 weeks ago.  Biggest we've ever caught.  No scale, but it was heavy.

Crawlerman that is one hell of a cat, congratulation🍻 to your buddy.

    Nice camera work too.

That's a pig! I've never fished Flatheads before, though I may give it a try this summer. I'm more of a Bullhead guy haha.

As for myself, I mainly fish the lower 'Gheny and around Pine & Deer Creeks. Trout, Bass, Walleye, Sunfish, Crappie, Bullheads, Suckers, Chubs, and Carp around here, mainly.

Funny thing about the fish is it hit a chub on a bobber in about 4' of water.  Definitely wasn't expecting that.  That's what I love about the river, you never know what you will bring in.

Lol nice. My friend got a little Flattie the other night fishing for walleye with a floating Rapala, those things really are predators. I also got a 30-32" channel in about 2-3' of fast current in March on my 7wt with a big stonefly on a sink tip, never know what you'll catch in our Rivers!

I think I'd have to guess a little north of that # Emans.  Two hander with all four fingers in the mouth, pretty wide.  Granted, never caught a flattie myself but, that one seems pretty decent to me.  Profile pic would help with the guesstimate a little more.  Great fish crawlerman.

Anyone know how the Channels, Carp, or Buffs are biting? I'd like to get on the rivers for those three sometime next week with the fly rod. Been destroying the Crappie lately, 29 to hand in 45 minutes yesterday plus a bunch of Sunfish, Bass, and Chubs, but I could go for a knuckle buster right now :).

I fish the area right around the city almost exclusively. I get on the Yough a lot too because I feel it's cleaner and it's not far from my house, I hit Little Boston a lot. Only been out once this year though and got completely skunked.

Divemaster, I've mostly been catching flatheads and walleye.  I'm using creek chubs so I'm not catching carp.  Did catch a handful of smallmouths and one channel the last few weeks.

Thanks đź‘Ť I may just fish a small pond with my friend for Carp instead, if the river bite is sketchy. Another month or so and the carp and buffalo should start heading on the shallow flats, can't wait!
