I use a urine sample container for one of mine... If I happen to forget them on the bank, some may have second thoughts about pocketing them before I return! I have 3 different Gulp containers. One for wading, one for the boat and one for salt water. I wouldn't pay Berkely for a container. They should put them in leak proof containers to begin with... FYI - Those "powerbait" size jars the 1" minnows and others come in, will eventually leak as well. I think it may be the dried up juice getting in the treading, or that stuff just somehow finds a way through. But I have had them empty into tackle boxes. I always keep my containers outside of my tackle box for that reason. Try to keep them upright when in a bag or pocket.

Jigs, if the original contained lids didn't leak, Berkley couldn't profit from selling bottles of "FreshJuice".
Fished with a buddy that used the minnows and he did alright catching crappie. Dam stuff smelled like WD40 if ya ask me.

An old timer I use to fish with actually used WD 40 and caught lots of fish. He'd spray it on his hands, live minnows and lures and I can't remember him ever getting skunked.

Power to you for being able to stomach that terrible whiskey. Drank too much of it one too many times, the sight of it makes me sick. The smell of it makes me naesous instantly.

You guys are whimps, try Yukon Jack in a 16' Jon boat 100 degree heat in the Everglades that I still don't believe are there! If I accidentally see a bottle of that stuff in the state store I still get sick all over again!

Yukon Jack just happens to be my favorite whiskey. Now if you're talking about drinking it in 100 degree weather... that's a little bit of a different story.

X2 on the flicker shad, the hooks suck, but they have been very productive for me on pymy and are one of the more affordable baits out. The flicker minnows are a solid bait as well, both are in regular rotation in my spreads. Also, Fireline is far from being the worst braid on the market, but I prefer powerpro.

the smelt, black shad, and emerald shiner colors seem to be the colors of choice on the Beaver and Ohio River for the gulp minnows. I bought pints of pink shine and sardine because those colors were on sale for $7/pint. Hopefully it isnt a complete waste of money

My oldest son and I were on the Allegheny River today in pool #7 fishing for walleyes. I used one fathead, then switched to watermelon 3" gulp minnows on jigs. I caught as many or more fish than he did on live bait. When the sun got high in the sky at noon and fishing slowed down, he was outfishing me 3 to 1 on live bait. Can't be mad at Berkley 'cause their advertising is true. Fish bite them and hold on. I could feel walleyes comin' with the jig before I set.
Never try to argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Gulps will produce , no argument there. Never had as much luck with the all white ones (pearl). River Smallies will crush em ! Berkley Trilene XT and XL have been on all my reels many a year.....no major issues ....I also like Stren lines. I refresh my line spools steady during the seasons depending on use and amount of fish fought. 1000 yard spools are the way to go if you fish a lot like I do. Never was into those expensive lines for fish under 10lbs.

I've stayed with Trilene since '81. Either XL or XT, always green. Tried Transition in '06 on a Canadian fishin' trip; couldn't believe the frays that developed every day. By midweek, I had to change the spools on my Daiwa Excelers. In '07, I was fishin' off the end of the wall in the lake at Walnut, using 10# Transition. Got a hit on Powerbait, set the hook, and the line snapped off right at the reel! WTF?!! That was the last of Berkley transition for me. Since then I've been using Sensation, which I like even better than XL or XT, and lately I spooled up several with TransOptic and have used it for two seasons now. It seems like very good line and tough as nails. I've pulled up some huge tree limbs out of the river on 8# test. In the Allegheny River, if you ain't losin' tackle, you ain't fishin' walleyes right. Just bought two reel fill packs of Vanish, mainly because there was a good deal on it, so I'll spool up two more reels with it and work it out on the river. Just need to see if there's a fluorocarbon advantage.

nerka, When I was a buyer for a large chain store we got everything from other manufactuers that also made their own brand items, but with their spects. So even though they were made in the same place there were quality differences between them. This was everything from tennis shoes to washing machines. I am sure that this applies to fishing line also. sam

I wade virtually all the time, so use a vest for most of my spinning gear, and keep a couple small jars of Gulp in the small pockets on the front waist pockets of my vest where they stay vertical and don't spill. Love those things for panfish and Largemouth.
