Summer tributaries
So I will be in Erie on business the third week of June this year. I'm curious as to what can be found in the tribs during that time of year.

Carp and Catfish at the deeper mouths, maybe some Smallies left scattered here and there but probably not many, and maybe a Drum or two in deeper holes.

After a big****rains, high and muddy Walnut and Elk can produce some monster cat fish at night. I did a couple of times. I fish next to a black guy that use road kill raccoon meat for bait,he was crushing them. I use a wad of night crawlers and did Ok,I'm not a cat fishermen but it was fun getting 12-15 lb cats. He said every time there's a big summer rain storm be there that night.

I snorkled the mouth of Elk that time of year, pretty awesome with hundreds of large channel cats, smallmouth bass ,sheeps ,buffle head carps, and lots of spoons, spinners and jigs stuck all along the shale and logs.

Better fresh or baked in the sun for a few weeks? A friend of mine kicked a dead raccoon years ago while fishing a stream near Indiana, PA. We made him throw his shoes out, since they were stinking the car up so bad, hours after he kicked the thing. I could never be that hard up to catch fish. Unless survival demanded it. I'm noxious just thinking about it.

I think I'm gonna pass on the old mill, may take the bass gear along for the hell of it anyway and hit the mouth of elk. We all know it hasn't been any good for steelies as of late so maybe I can hook up on a smallie or two

There's shale at the mouth? I thought it was 50' of silt and then just a black hole under that. At least, that's what it feels like in waders. Honestly though, if it's really a shale bottom and clear I'd snorkel it, walnut is always a fun snorkel in warm weather, have to try Elk and fourmile this year too now that the guys are disappearing that complain when I drift down through a pod of chrome in December in my dry suit.

Try along the shoreline by the mouths too, that flow doesn't concentrate just steelhead. Nearshore Drum should be in full swing by late June and Smallies & Slab/White Bass should be pretty good, too.
