New Years (fishing) resolution

This might be one of those resolutions made in the cold of winter and then promptly forgotten once back on the water, but I am going to start keeping a journal of every fishing trip. I'm going to get a thermometer for water temps, and enter weather conditions, bait lure or fly used, and results. I've had some fishing experiences where the fishing was phenomenal, and I never really knew why or been able to repeat the experience. By keeping a record I hope be able to understand what is going on and maybe repeat the experience.
Does anybody do this and have any success using it?

I keep a general log for every day I fish. Every individual fish and species caught, length and weight when large enough, weather, air temperature, and location & date. I don't have the patience to log every detail I can think of for the 800-1,200+ fish caught each year so that's why I try to keep it general.

For Lake Trout, though, I made a spreadsheet with 13 basic fields and 14 optional supplementary fields that I fill in for every fish caught. Really helps for putting together feeding patterns, behavior, location, etc. and I'd recommend doing something similar if there's a certain species that you concentrate on.

I got tired of writing in my log today, 63 perch, 29 gills,22 pumpkin seeds, 1 steelhead. I don't mind keeping count but measuring and weighing every one sucks.lol

They have that anglr tracker system now that attaches to your rod and it keeps record of everything. Seems interesting
