Eating fishing bait and wierd stuff

Just wondering what's the strangest thing you or you have seen someone eat ?
I'm sure booze might be involved in some taste testing......lol

I seen a guy eat a night crawler on a bet once!
I ate Musk Rat at a game dinner (oily and strong fishy tasting ) not good.

Muskrat , raccoon, beaver - all cooked on an open fire while skipping school to run a trapline.
Also did the nightcrawler on a bet. $5 - during lunch at work. Best part about it was the fattest lady in the room couldn't finish her lunch that day - that never happened previously. lol

Saw my cousin eat a worm once on a bet sucked it down like a champ. The funny one was my old man used to use the powerbait with the glitter in it and I never new how the glitter gets there but it's always on his lips haha.

Mealworms and some kind of grub on a drunken fishing trip. When we were kids we fished the carp pay lakes and we would eat the dough ball we made.

What the heck ya suppose to do?

I paid for the fish bait and I ain't just gonna throw it away if I ain't catchin fish..... which I usually don't.

Just hold your nose and this is one time ya do not chew. E'cept the nose thingy don't work so good with two day old dead minners and crawlers.

Earthworms & Crawlers not too bad if ya just swallow them down.  Same with goldfish.  Have done both for a few bux when younger.  Still will do it once in awhile to freak out/entertain kids.

We would pull the tail off of a live crayfish, then peel it & eat it raw. tasted like cocktail shrimp. Funniest thing was when I went to G. E. & asked the butcher if they had any MT. Oysters & when he asked me what they were 2 women behind me abruptly left when I explained what they were. btw he said that I could get them in the strip district in Pitts.    sam

I have had mtn oysters in denver....and I ate bait all the time while living in Texas. Used live shrimp a lot and didn't take much to grill that up after a long day of not catching. Also caught and used whiting for bait for redfish and those were tasty, like panfish.

When stationed in South Korea during the mid-70s about 20 of us took a bus trip to Pusan with our Korean girlfriends.  It's a port city, we were all on the beach and the tide was going out and my girl flipped a rock over, took a huge sea slug off of it, dipped it in hot sauce, and popped it in my mouth.  Ate a lot of octopus in Italy last October.  Always have squid sauce in the freezer to serve over vermicelli.

At a wild game dinner I've had rack-of-coon and mountain lion.

    Gator is good.

Conch spine is weird, but a lemon cooked conch salad is great.

When I was a lot younger I would watch some older guys at Penn Rod & Gun Club argue over who would get the last of their favorite sandwiches which was Limburger Cheese & Onion on Rye Bread. I decided I would Man up & try one. My Bad. I actually threw mine out because I couldn't believe that anything could smell that bad. No need to tell you who took a beat'n, that night. I still haven't got the nerve to try again. Ah the good old days.   sam

Sam that brought back some unfond memories. Attended a meeting at which a lunch was served. As expected there included rolls on which I spread, a large smathering of butter.

I didn't hesitate one second making the first bite of roll airborne.

I could taste that limburger cheese for two days.

My stepdad ate that cheese too! I use to beg my mother to call and warn me so I wouldn't stop by that day! That smell was like getting hit in the face with a hammer, a really big one! A friend a I came up with this totally STUPID idea once and made cat fish bait with chicken, Limburger cheese and I forget what else. Put it in a jar in the sun for a couple of days. Went fishing but when we opened that jar there was NO fishing! We got so sick and threw up several times never wet a line. That dam jar by all rights should have exploded!

Don't ever toss Limburger cheese in a fire or a hot area! Smells like a backed up sewer for days.

I actually tried it a second time cuz I was convinced that the first package was spoiled. Threw it out as soon as I got it opened. Still hard to believe that those guys actually liked it. I seen stuff on that Andrew Zimmern show that I would try first. But that aged raw fish & aged cheese got to go.Oops now I got to go.   sam

I've eaten some weird stuff. Squid, octopus, conch salad ( raw cooked in Lime or lemon juice). As for wild game boar, gator, beaver, coon, wood chuck. Of course I still eat squirrels a couple times a year.lol tree rat as the wife calls them.lol. As for bait I've nibbled at cubed Velveeta cheese out of the cooler and peeled fresh live shrimp out of the bait well and added hot sauce or soy sauce in Florida fishing for sea trout,it was the captain's favorite, fresh sushi. About the weirdest stuff was my grandfather loved tripe cooked in a watery tomato broth. I tasted it but passed after that, that was probably 50 years ago. I saw it for sale at of all places the Wal-Mart.lol

paid a drunk fisherman $20 at the Fallston wall(New Brighton dam) to eat the rest of my rancid chicken livers. We were night fishing for  flatheads for a good 5-6 hours and they sat out in sun on a picnic table that day for at least 6 hours(dog days of summer) when he swallowed them whole like (slimy) pills with his beer. This was 20+ years ago and I've never seen that guy again....

Pickled quail eggs aren't bad I've never seen them in PA, only the south.  They are a little bit hard to get down though.  Like, kind of chalky & they require some beer to chase.

    Alligator is good.
